With all the 'Ex-LDers' that appear to be taking over, Im forced to ask... What the hell is Leisure District and why are you all coming here?

there was a convo somewhere yesterday, perhaps here but can't be bothered to look, saying that LD was coming back as the replacement or something was pants.
I believe it was the chat room area for Telewest digital tv users.
Also, to save money, I believe Telewest had removed all the vowels from the keyboards and had a very simple AI program in charge of capitalisation in postings.

Liam, you've confused me now...
So why have all the chatters come here?

I believe because there is some 'bodge' which allows the Digibox users to access BBC sites. they are, as I understand it, normally fenced in to only Telewest stuff but someone discovered a way of getting the BBC sites such as hootoo via their digiboxes. I believe it to be a bit suss
Also it is miles better here than any of the alternatives offered.
However, the legions of LDers seem to be being strangely silent on this matter ?
Perhaps one of them could post and correct the assumptions made in my posts.

There's plenty of BBCi stuff available through a digibox, I wonder if Telewest have opened up the bbc.co.uk domain to the digibox users which has included hootoo in there. BotF and Cult might be lurking around as well.
A digibox user would need to be sent a link, via thier activemail address (the one you get by joining LD), to hootoo.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Jul 24, 2003
I think the 'LD is coming back' thread was either here at Askh2g2 or in one of the Feedback threads... maybe Community Soapbox?

i'm a so called "ex LDer, and it was a "chat" site. Many of us here used it.
Leisure District
IctoanAWEWawi Posted Jul 24, 2003
so was there a deliberate programme to move the LD users to HooToo after its demise or is this an unofficial migration?
Leisure District

there was NO programme, just the way it happened. Many ex LDers were on a pc, so they were not just confined to a digibox, or to just one site. I myslf have both pc and digibox.
You make it sound as if we are all thick, well i can assure you thats not the case.

I know, I know. I was taking the p*ss. I know what it's like trying to type on a digibox ("All keys are locked", "Please wait data loading"). It's bad enough trying to change the channels or to get programme listings.
There's been some great work done by LDers - Loup and MandA to name two.

Indeed, my comments were made with tongue firmly in cheek as mentioned. It was a genuine question as to whther there had been a BBCi 'deal' to take over the LD users when LD died the death.
And now I know there wasn't.
Which is nice.
