Where is the problem with one night stands, any conversation i everhave ith a girlfriend (i the past) they have always had some oversion to it, even girls I am not dating at the time, friends and such.
Personally I see no problem with them, good, fun wholesome SEX. Love making I feel is for those that wish great intimacy, like discovering each others secret desires through conversation is an act of love making, and should be practised with a partner that one CARES a great deal for, how ever the ONE NIGHT STAND, is just sex for fun, try new stuff learn things about yourself, total and complete selfishness in sex.
Yet some people find it a dirty thing to do??????? Why i ask, why is it dirty, seeedy, something that should be shunned?
Why?

I thought i might feel at home here, many a time i've met young ladies for just the one night only for them to slip through my fingers...

Never do it in the sand! That's what sandpaper is made of. You wouldn't make love to a piece of sandpaper wood you?

My wife and I started out as a one-night stand, which developed into something more a few months later, we are very much in love and we just seem to get closer and closer all the time. So you never know what might come of it.

By definition, ste, it doesn't count as a one night stand if you marry the person.

Erm... I don´t think they are dirty or seedy... but just a plain pain in the a...
I´d rather do as the name of the captains says and not worry about having breakfast with somebody who was attractive after serious alcohol abuse...
Ouzo, woke up next to a whale a couple of times....

...So what's wrong with waking up next to a whale?
Waking up next to a , now, that's different...
(and doing it on the beach is fine so long as you're designed for it, ~jwf~)

But if you do it on the beach and then wake up next to a real whale, you might be in trouble.
It's not long ago we started having birth control. Before that women could risk quite a lot with casual sex. I think there are just still some genetical or cultural thing against it. Which is also why we have that double standard thing with men and women having sex.

Oh - my mistake. After reading the title of this thread I naturally assumed it was a discussion on rapid sedimentary deposition.

When I was younger I had some fantastic one night stands, and also some great one-off sex with friends.
Some people thought I was dreadful, some thought I was honest.
By the way, very monogamous now!

I suggest that if you can do it without any serious consequences either physically or mentally then it doesn't matter.
Tell anyone that disapproves to mind their own business(unless it's your one night stand's significent other).

The reasons your Girlfriends have an aversion to it is because they don't like the thought of you having sex with other women, especially if that woman "meant nothing" (stupid as it may sound!)
One night stands are fine for some, but I really don't know how well I could trust a bloke who has had that sort of past. You're always wondering if you're up to the standards of the sex he had, regardless of how many times he tries to explain the difference between love making and sex.
Also many women don't have the concept of sex being something you share with 'just anyone' it's almost an in-ability to distinguish between love making and sex.
I'm from Essex, I understand the concept of the one-night stand, I know men and women who have them regularly, personally as some-one who doesn't believe in having sex before marriage they are not something I could do. At the end of the day you will have to find a girlfriend who accepts your opinions and past. There are women like that out there, but bear in mind, you may have to accept her past too.

"it doesn't count as a one night stand if you marry the person"
Uh-huh, the night was mutually recognised as being a one-off, with her living in a different city and in the country for only about six more months. We had no contact for about a month afterwards and then I recieved an email from her 'inviting me to stay at her place for the weekend'. That's when the relationship properly started, so it started as a one-nighter (which, by definition, it was at the time and shortly afterwards), but then was followed by a relationship.
