Sadly we can't because there are laws against that. I just wanted to hear people's opinions on those laws. Is there really any good reason besides christian dogma and being prunes we are not allowed to? Can we call ourselves a free society when we have laws telling people how to dress.

Did you also know, it's against your human rights for your boss to tell you what to wear to work, unless they provide a uniform....?

in that case, is it against the klaw to make people pay for their own uniform?

I think I read that on a website about workers' rights, but when in training at my current job the trainer mentioned it too. I suppose paying for your uniform isn't illegal - I don't mind paying a deposit but I wouldn't buy one outright.

I also need to remember that one. I never want to work in a company with a dress code. Except uniforms, those make sense.

Most places provide one - you probably only have to pay for replacements if you are careless with it. If you do have a uniform, you should get an allowance for cleaning it.
I can't even be naked in my own back garden, I don't see why other people should be allowed to run down the street naked.

In this day and age, why are people so hung up about people who want to 'go commando'? Are they just jealous that they don't have the body (or the guts, pardon the pun!) to do it? Me, I probably wouldn't but I don't have a problem with anyone who would

It's just something to do with those Summer storms. I don't have the body either, didn't stop me...
Did I say that out loud?

the courage

Neither - the courage. As I'm sure you're aware, there are several expressions in English using 'Dutch' that date from our 17th century tussles with each other. Dutch courage, Dutch uncle, or I'm a Dutchman etc. Bit of an anomaly really - surprised it isn't the French, it usually is.

The phrase 'Dutch courage' comes from the fact that the Dutch were the only people who would deliver food and supplies up the Thames when we were in the middle of the plague. Long live the Dutch!
