Sex during your period?

Is it ok, or totally repulsive? Can it be done? Can it be used as an excuse not to?
I think there are many opinions out there, and I'd like to hear some.

Generally I don't think much of excuses, but it is a reason for some people.
And if someone doesn't want to, then he/she don't need any excuse.
It is ok though, but also depends on the day in the period and the girl's "messiness". I usually don't have sex with my girlfriends during their periods (it is a history thing, I have only one at a time ), but in the last day or 2 of the period I do, unless the specific girl has problems with that.
We do use a condom for that though, even if she is on the pill and were both disease safe.

what's so amazing about really deep thought?
Boy you best pray that I bleed real soon. How's that thought for you?"

I'd like to hear a girl's reasons for or against. In my experience if they get randied up enough, the day doesn't matter.

My girlfriend's primary objection has always been that she doesn't feel attractive, and that she doesn't want to gross me out. And now that she's been disavowed of that particular notion... Otherwise, the only problem is that there are certain things I won't do for her at that time, as they probably *would* gross me out.
A towel underneath her doesn't hurt, because it's easier to wash afterwards than the bedding and, possibly, the bed.

It's true the resulting mess is a bit more dramatic.

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit Posted Nov 6, 2001
My girlfriend has a serious medical condition (endometriosis) which lends itself to some incredibly heavy bleeding during her periods. When she's at her absolute worst, she declines sex, but when she assents, the mess is really not that bad. A bit of a stain on the towel, perhaps, and a bit of redness around our genitals, and that's it.
Bottom line: I think you overestimate the mess. It's rather undramatic.

Medically, there's nothing wrong with it. But make sure you use some sort of contraceptive. Some people think a woman can't conceive during her period, but this is not true. There are rare circumstances where conception can occur.

Whenever my genitals are the least bit bloody, I consider it dramatic.
Sex during your period?
a girl called Ben Posted Nov 6, 2001
Well, when I was married we used to have sex during my period fairly often. The former Mr Ben liked it because he needn't use a condom. I liked it because I like sex. I never got pregnant, but we may have been firing blanks of course.
These days I would have sex during a period, but I would insist on a condom. Sad, the world we live in now. In fact the last but one time I had sex was on the first day of my period. I found that a bit embarrassing I must admit, and I think it startled the guy I was with more than a little. (Maybe I should post something in the embarrasment thread, I have to keep up with GreyDesk somehow).
I used to find it a turn-on when I was married. It't not too messy, more of a different colour than anything else. Blood on condoms is a turn-off though. Maybe I should buy some red ones.

I have, I would , I don't mind, I haven't recently. Since my M.O. involves an ancient art called F**EP**Y, everything relies on my partner's reaction when my bearded face rises from the depths. Since my wife is a nurse, this is rarely a problem, since I could probably have my head bathed in brake fluid at that point and she wouldn't mind.

The mess thing is mainly psychological, which i think most people have suggested, and the unattractiveness thing is part of the same deal. I know some women who find themselves more turned on during their period than at other times.
Going down on your ladyfriend during her period isn't messy either, unless you want it to be, in which case it can be arranged.
Reasons not to:
Sometimes heavy periods can be 'gritty' cause friction which can become sore if your not careful.
Some pills give less cover during the period.
- these are reasons to be careful, not to not try it.

Yes, I've noticed in one case that there is less lubrication. Nothing a bit of extra patience and attention couldn't take care of, though.

Mother of God, Empress of the Universe Posted Nov 7, 2001
The only problem I've ever noticed with sex during my period is that sometimes, if I'm prone to cramping anyway, vigorous sex can bring on some pretty severe cramps. I usually avoid it during the first day for that reason.
Messiness is generally not a big issue and those who are more squeamish can indulge while in the shower.
It's important that the fella involved know what the situation is, even if it's not one that bothers him in the least. One of my former boyfriends went through a bad moment when he saw some blood and thought he had damaged me. He got a terribly concerned look on his face and told me he was afraid that something in me had 'burst'. It didn't help much when I started howling with laughter...

My ex-husband expected sex every night (twice a night on average) throughout our marriage. However, he said he found intercourse during my period 'messy' and therefore opted for 'alternative' types of sex at those times. (Basically, I was never allowed to use my period as a reason for not having sex of some sort).

You're well out of that one Rainbow, as we may have said elsewhere.
I found that orgasm during a period got rid of the cramps rather than making them worse. Highly recommended even if your chap doesn't fancy penetrative sex. Since water retention made the breasts swell, most chaps did fany it/me

I'm not really here Posted Nov 7, 2001
It's never bothered me, although the one man I could persuade to have sex with me during a period (my ex husband) always wore a condom. He said the sight of blood on his bits might make him faint.
I always put an old towel underneath, to catch any mess, but it was never too bad.
Some women get hornier during a period, because, although it's been pointed out, conception is possible, it's normally a very safe time. And also the pill would have been stopped if that's what is being used, which can often be a passion killer.
I haven't found a man willing to do oral sex during that time though, although I have been told by men I haven't been sleeping with that they are happy to do it.

Well my partner and I have been known to partake but as with most above, not on the first day. I don't find it that disconcerting although find it more pleasant outside of this time.
In reference to one post above about letting your boyfriend/husband know the score. I've never known any woman who doesn't discuss this at length with their partner, certainly I'm always told several days in advance. Not necessarily because of the sex thing but to warn me about PMT and the pains that are coming. I have to say that it's usually reasonably obvious anyway as it tends to happen with some regularity and you get into the rhythm of it after a while as it were
I once had a girlfriend who did bleed rather badly sometimes during sex outside of the time of her period. This really *was* disconcerting and I must admit my first reaction was something like this
She refused to see a doctor about it though Silly girl

Well, Wandrin' Star, i'm not sure which way this typo works but it all looks a bit Freudian to me...
