Le Morte d'Arthur and Salmon of Doubt
Barry (ask me about the Disneyland Resort) Posted Jul 7, 2004
_The Once and Future King_ is on my permanent (i.e., do not donate to the library) bookshelf and I reread it on a regular basis. My enjoyment of T. H. White's version is the main reason I was inspired to read Mallory.

I enjoyed 'The Once and Future King'.
Reading Lolita by Nabakov now. I sense I am getting to the creepy part.

Update: Well I gave up on Mallory again. Once I am done reading _Salmon of Doubt_ and _Around the World in 80 Days_, I will probably opt for _Peter and Wendy_ by James Barrie (assuming I can find a public domain version for Microsoft Reader) before I attempt to go back to Mallory.

That's a great book, Ford_Prefect. My sister and I read it when we were teensagers.

Someone mentioned Blowfly by Patricia Cornwell a few posts ago. I totally agree - it was lacklustre and seemed to have been written by someone else. The characters and plots were not as well rounded as in previous books and I found the whole thing deeply unsatisfying.
I'm just about to start The Full Cupboard of Life by Alexander McCall Smith. It's the fifth in the series based in Botswana. These are wee gems!

Louis de Bernieres' Birds Without Wings.
I haven't had time to get read much of it yet, but so far I prefer it to Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

Have you read any of his South American books? eg The War of Don Emanuel's Nether Parts.
They're a very strange mixture of enchanting whimsy and gruesome descriptions of what oppressive SA regimes do to people who disagree with them.
We enjoyed them

I just finished 'One hundred years of solitude' by Gabriel García Márquez. Absolutely marvellous stories in it.
