I have just read and thoroughly enjoyed "The Salmon of Doubt" by Douglas Adams.
Now I am reading Just six numbers (The deep forces that shape the universe) by Martin Rees. It's very interesting.

Element9inety2wo Posted Jun 10, 2003
Yeah, that Martin Rees book was interesting, I do have a soft spot for those "3rd culture" science books (or whatever they're called) Apart from the obvious Stephen Hawking ones, I think my favourite is The End Of Time by ..erm.. Julian Barbour (?), & Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World is a must-read for anyone with an interest in science (& those without!)
But anywaaay: my current reads are Choke by Chuck Palahniuk, Don DeLillo's White Noise & Carol by Patricia Highsmith.

Little Mischief Posted Jun 16, 2003
I'm reading The Goblet of Fire in preparation for book 5, refreshing my memory as I haven't read it since it was released (it's the only Potter book I've only read once - til now). I'm still in the middle of The Bourne Identity ... and I'm reading The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents to my 8 year old.

I've just finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which was brilliant, so I'm going to re-read it, and then decide between Michael Frayn's Spies, Alan Furst's Red Gold and China Meiville's The Scar

I have a week and a half - but it's not every book that gets me to sit down for 5-6 hours straight...

Deadeye Dick--Kurt Vonnegut
Excellent, as always.
Countered by:
Six Not-So-Easy Pieces--Richard Feynman
This book, along with Six Easy Pieces, should be required reading for everyone, in my rarely humble opinion.

Sarum is by Edward Rutherfurd. The name and author are emblazoned on my memory because I spilt coffee all over a brand new copy of it while on holiday last year! It's still readable though.
Blood Sport by Dick Francis
