What a great idea.
I'm quite intrigued by of picking one I know nothing about, but the more rational approach would be something like 'Belgians in the Congo'. About which I know a little.
Hopefully you'll have so many writers that each contributor will only cover one topic?

Er...no. There are over 100 topics.
I'll mark you down for 'Belgians...', if that's alright. If you'd like to take any more on, let me know.

So, guys - what would you like to write about, then?

I'm interested in writing about:
- Punk rock
- The Bay of Pigs Invasion
- The Catcher in the Rye
Three subjects is a bit greedy though, so if anyone else wants to write about them then that's OK with me.
I know you mentioned paragraphs, but roughly how many words are you looking for on each subject? (Sorry, my brain cannot think in paragraphs).

Azara - Toscanini is yours.
Rocket Man - by all means take three articles. I've got loads! I wouldn't particularly want more than 300-400 words on any one, otherwise my page sizes are going to be unbearable.
I'll put you down for all three of those, if that's OK?

A2098749 - Punk Rock
I've done a first draft on Punk Rock. At 470 words it's a tiny bit long and I'm sure there are several grammatical errors in there, but apart I've done the vast majority of it.
I'll post to the 'I've finished!' thread when it's 100% finished

Good God! Slow down, man - I wasn't expecting this to be finished until about May.
Nice entry, though.

I wrote most of it off the top of my head, so it didn't take that long
I just kind of wanted to get the easy subject of punk out of the way so I can get started on my two hard entries.
Great idea for a project though!

How about Anthony Burgess - or would you just prefer A Clockwork Orange?

Do you want the entries to be in the context of the song? eg Birth Control would have to be about the pill and related issues of the mid sixties because of where Joel put it in the song, or could I write about Birth Control in general?

Who is going to have a go at Joe Di Maggio, I don't think we're top heavy with baseball fans. Mind you, anyone seen Gosho about?

I'd kind of assumed in the context of the song - otherwise Belgians in the Congo would give you Heart of Darkness and Leopold the Merciless,(19th century) rather than 60s independance movements and dodgy Belgo-CIA inspired assasinations?

I've written a bit about Catcher in the Rye - more to do with why it would be mentioned than the story itself: A2100349
It was only a quick hash together so let me know what you want done with it (stop thinking that right now!)
Liam.
