But that would put heavy metal in completely the wrong place chronologically, as it was around long before punk rock...

I'm taking EV's side on this. I was pretty sure it referred to a specific incident, but I couldn't remember which one.
Also, it means there's one less entry to write.
Sorry, Wildman, but you're outvoted.

Master B put me down for Syngman Rhee
Oh and by the way what subject do you teach Master B ? It wouldn't be history.

Figures. I knew a chemistry teacher who was pure evil
Sorry for disrupting... I'll raise my hand next time, master.

I know that I haven't finished off all the first lot I claimed, but they're almost done and you're past half-way through the list and most of the more interesting ones are starting to disappear.
So I'm going to stake a claim on Sugar Ray, Castro, Eichmann, Woodstock, - that should see me over Christmas! .

Take them if you want Wildman - please leave me some at the end.
Frenchbean - bear in mind we're talking The Ballad of Davy Crockett, and not the man himself, who was around considerably earlier than that.

Oh the Ballad of DC
Thanks for pointing that out Master B. No worries though: I was taught it as a small person on my big brothers' knees, so I feel awfully well qualified to write about it.

Got a quick question for you, B.
Joe DiMaggio's prime was well before the date that the song has him at - 1949 (I suspect that this is because that is the earliest year in the song). Should I focus on 1949 in my short little para?

Help Master B
I signed up to do Davy Crockett (the song) and I'm really struggling with it. Other than saying that it was released, who sang it, who wrote it and what show it appeared in, I don't know what to say
Initially I thought I'd compare the song words with what we know of DC's life, but it's all there, so that seems a waste of time. And we've already established that copyright gets in the way of writing out the song.
Help, help, help. Does anybody have any ideas?

Can't you take the P**s a bit? That'd be good for a few dozen words.

Free Hint FB
The DC song was the theme song for a series of adventure shorts (3 in all as I recall) that Disney produced for his TV show 'The Wonderful world of Disney'
I had a 'coonskin hat and a fake fur 'bear rug' to use while watching them
