We've all had those experiences when you realise you're not as young as you used to be (even though I'm not *that* old!).

Yesterday I was sitting on the train, and heard 2 young school urchins talking about Jack Osbourne. One of them says to the other, "Hey, did you know his dad used to be a famous singer?"

The other one couldn't believe it.

A lot of bad back ache!

When you lot talk about "personalities" I haven't a clue who they are. I also don't know the name of the singers or the music

My 18 year old brother in law has just discovered the Blackadder The Third series, and Blackadder's Christmas Carol. He quotes them constantly.

This has not yet resulted in him realising how bad Back And Forth was, but there is hope.

Jack Osbourn is the son of Ozzy Osbourn, who is/was the lead singer of Black Sabath a heavy rock band from 1970s/1980s. (British band).

I am as old as dear Ozzy it is the modern personalities I don't know.

It makes me feel old when I've been away for a weekend, with no sleep for three days, having consumed vast quantities of illegal and non-illegal substances, and it then takes half a week to recover I'm sure in my youth, I'd recover quicker and go back and do it all again the next day with seemingly no ill-effects

When I walk upstairs and my knees creak! (I'm sure that's only happened in the last 12 months since I turned 40 )

T least you can walk upstairs, and how do you know its not the stairs creaking? You are not a at 40 you are only a teenager with VAT added

My stairs creak, that's true, but my knees do even more! I'm a teenager with VAT? try telling that to my head! (far too many grey hairs to contemplate - at least that's what hubby tells me, cuz I can't see 'em)

I have got sort of a pepper and salt look, which apparently makes men look distinguished but women old. Anyway, I got my hubs to cut my hair really short and it looked alright, took years orf he said.

Talking to plasticrockchick even though shes only 1 year youngger than me.

Saying stoopid things in work like - I'll be back after lunch unless I meet Omar Shariff or someone - then realising no-one knows who Omar Shariff is, and if they did they'd know he must be about 90 now.

Talking about things I did when I was young whilst at work, and then having to add the rejoinder "you were still nobbut a twinkle in your dad's eye".

When my four year old asks me where he was when Joachim (my eldest, 12) was born.

When in conversation we mention the likes of Laurel and Hardy and my 10 year old looks blankly and hasn't a clue.

Also the fact she won't watch a black and white film because she thinks its spooky.

Every day when I see my sons and realise, that the eldest is 18! now , and my 'baby' is 15.
