mermaids are quite mobile. the little mermaid from copenhagen harbour for instance will travel to the world exhibition in china - in spite of many protests
we have been thinking of what to put up for the tourists instead while she is away
some have suggested a giant statue of mao ze dong
others have suggested a gartenzwerg (german garden gnome)

The mermaid and the gnome are both fantasy creatures, so that would be appropriate. A chinese dragon might be more in keeping with the loan of the mermaid.

i'm told the little mermaid will be displayed in a basin filled with water from copenhagens harbour - and i'm not kidding! - so yes, it is a splendid idea indeed

If it's any help to anyone, I'll be driving down from Leicester on the Friday and staying for a morning's work (Farnborough) on Saturday, then off to the meet (by train) in the afternoon. If there's anyone who could do with some wheels....
