A Proposal For Saturday Afternoon
A Super Furry Animal Started conversation Feb 23, 2009
Hello all
I would like to propose a Saturday afternoon activity: a walk from Bank to Holborn. This will take in the following sites and landmarks:
The Bank of England
The Mansion House
The London Stone A863309
St Paul's Cathedral
The Old Bailey
St Bride's Church
Fleet Street
The Royal Courts Of Justice
The Aldwych A6379310
Bush House A790058
This is an area of London about which I am reasonably knowledgeable, so will be able to provide some commentary above and beyond what you'll find in the guide books.
There is also Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub en route, so we can stop for refreshment in a historic venue.
The plan is to arrive at the Shakespeare's Head early in the evening.
It's a bit of a stroll, but we won't be in any hurry, and will be able to take breaks as necessary along the way.
Is anyone interested?

It will be in early May, which is late Spring...of course it'll be raining!
What, you scared of getting a bit wet?

Actually an organized walk sounds like fun. Where would we all meet up?
And would we go inside places like St.Paul's?

I wasn't planning to go inside St. Paul's, largely because they charge an exorbitant £11 for entry. The purpose of my proposed plan is to see what's around in London that people may not necessarily know about, not to go to a specific "tourist place". Everything on my walk is freely available* to the General Public!

* With the exception of at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, obviously!

Well, the walk sounds like a great idea. I hope a lot of people are interested. And that not everyone's legs are as long as yours, RF. Short people have a hard time keeping up with tall people on forced marches.
Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese sounds delightful.
