Hmm. Well, I'll try to come up with a fantastic, thought-provoking, interesting conversation topic, then.

you do that.

Okay, so here's something. In a previous post, Jen said:
"Just be warned-as we're in our first year still and haven't accepted anyone age 18 (that's what under 18
means, of course) we currently don't have a policy regarding what will happen when you turn 18. But
I'm imagining somethign like a birthday party and then a grand sendoff - maybe we'll create an ex-YRC,
for members who have gotten old."
Now, I realise that Jen has already voiced her opinion about this particular issue. But for the rest of us (and Jen if she has any more brilliant ideas!) - how does Jen's plan sound? What should we do about members who turn 18?
More later, I'm running late for an appointment.

really? where're you going? (more correctly, where did you go?)
looking forwards to seeing you next weekend! But I have lots of studying to do, since I will be gone. Finals start after the following weekend. But I do not have 6 or 7 period finals, so I get out of school a day and a half early.

Your still in school? Oh man I am so sorry. I do agree that we need to decide what we are going to do when a member turns 18, beings as I turn 18 in less than a year.

I honestly can't remember, Jen! I believe it was synagogue or something - one of my friends had her Bat Mitzvah this weekend and I think I posted that about five minutes before the service was supposed to start.

yeah, still in school. I'm a little nervous about exams. There is an extreme lack of information given to students in my school. No one ever tells freshmen anything, so I really don't know what to expect exactly, and my english teacher won't tell us what's on the exam yet. There's only 2 weeks left before they start! Not much time for her to say ANYTHING. And I really, really hate that class.
But I don't have a seventh period exam, so I don't even need to show up on the last day
Eliza, your memory is pathetic. Worse than mine! YOu couldn't possibly be a little preoccupied at the moment, could you?
How did the dress thing turn out? As we both know, Heather has had her dress picked out for months. I don't know what I'm going to bring yet-but I went to April Cornell last weekend and got a nice skirt and top. So maybe I'll bring that or something.

Renee6612 - resurrected Posted Jun 1, 2003
Not preoccupied at all. I've only got meetings with the rabbi and my tutor every other day, Mom trying to drag me off to buy EVEN MORE CLOTHES , a three-page list of things that need to be done before this time tomorrow, loads of homework 'cos it's nearly the end of school and our teachers are convinced that there's still time for us to learn something, about six different things that need to be written for the service, a bit of learnt Hebrew which still needs to be perfected, my Silver Award project to be thought up, 4 hours of practicing to do, a yoga class to attend, e-mails to respond to, a room to clean (heck, a HOUSE to clean), and writer's block! Sorry - you've kinda touched a nerve here. (For those who have no idea what on earth I'm talking about [i.e. Darth and Chauncey], my Bat Mitzvah is on Saturday. )
"The dress thing," as you called it, was actually not half as bad as I thought it would be . . . and that's saying something! I've got three lovely dresses picked out (Mum insists that I need separate dresses for the Friday service, the Saturday service, AND the party), in addition to new shoes and a new hair style (the result of three months' repeated death threats from my parents - "It's a formal service, and you need new clothes" indeed!) As for Heather . . . I honestly think that she's more worried about my clothes than I am . . . LOL!
And good luck with your exams! I'm sure you'll do fine.

Viojen 2*16+1+3+6=42. Fencing-it's escrime! Posted Jun 1, 2003
Well, of course you need three seperate dresses. That's a law of nature or something. (Just want to point out that if you had more dresses to begin with you wouldn't have needed to buy that many) And when you find a clothes that you like (like one particular size of pants from one store) buy it in every style that you need, also. Saves *lots* of time.
Skip the practicing, skip the Silver Award (until sunday) and skip school on friday. YOu'll be fine. (I really hate when people who couldn't have experienced what I am about to do say that, so HA! The only person that it means something from is Robin)
Back to the dress thing-did you get the denim one that your mom didn't like? (as in, did the unrelentable dragon-monster ever relent? )
The only thing I'm *really* afraid of (besides meeting Uncles Earl and Ken ) is the new hairstyle. And after all that time it took you to get something you could live with. (what was it, 12 1/2 years?)

Gack. If Mum could buy me some dresses that a) fit and b) look half-decent every once in a while, then maybe I wouldn't need to buy three! Besides, she said that they had to be new. I don't want them to be new. I like my old dresses fine . . . except that half of them are hideous and the other half don't fit!
Practicing - got to do 120 minutes a week or I'll be kicked out of Wind Ensemble. And besides, the Winds spring concert was filmed and sent in to Walt Disney World for an audition tape, and . . . spoiler space in the unlikely event that any researchers are Wind Ensemblers in disguise who haven't heard the news . . . sorry that I'm about to yell, but I'm really excited . . . March 31st, 2004 on the Tomorrowland stage . . . WE GOT ACCEPTED!!! We're going down to Disney for a week and it's going to be so exciting and they have to fly us down on three separate jets 'cause they couldn't fit us all on one . . . WHEEEEE! SO I really can't afford to get kicked out of band until next April. So I've got to practice.
As for school on Friday . . . I'll talk to my parents! (ha.)
Well, technically only 11 1/2, but oh well. They didn't actually change my hair, just trimmed the ends a bit (like, a MILLIMETER) but Mum won't let me wear my headband . . . or tie my hair back . . . she says I've got to wear it down, and I can't, it gets frizzy . . . I can't do this . . .

congrats. but skip it anyways, just don't let anyone know.
excuse my ignorance, but I thought you were turning 13. Unless you are implying that you didn't have hair for one of those years.
if said dresses are not so great, how can you like them just fine? Wait until you get into adult sizes and then I can show you all the ones from LLBean that I get that fit nicely and are comfortable. They're mainly just a solid color, too, so they don't even look hideous. I have purple and navy and heather gray (I think) and also a light blue flowered one that I all like a lot.
I would work on that friday thing.
at hair issues. But if you can get some kind of hair product I'm sure there are ones that should keep your hair from getting frizzy during TBE. (although I'm not the one to ask.)
best of luck

Skip it anyways? Eeek! I couldn't do that!!!
Well, technically I didn't have hair till I was two . . . no REAL hair, anyway . . . and then I've been growing my hair since I was approx. 11 1/2, and wearing it with the headband etc. since I was 12. So I've had my hairstyle the same way for a year, and it took me a decade to get it that way.
Gack. I'd rather just wear a headband . . .
Thanks for the good wishes!

Oy. Your hair is a bit too complicated for hair, if you ask me. (which you didn't but I don't really care)
Du rien. Just remember to keep breathing.
