gasp! someone who understands me!
last weekend I realised that although I have really good friends none of them are really very similar to me (I know NO ONE like me if you add all my parts together). but now someone *understands* me. no one ever seems to understand my theories about life-music, grades (I could get better ones if I studied, but for the most part still get better grades than the rest of my friends. let's understand that this is all relative, please. A is good for me, B is good for you. but B is not necessarily good for me, because I am A person. B is ususally bad for me, even if it is good for you.) actually this all seems understandable if you listen. maybe people are just too annoyed that I'm mad about a B to actually listen to why. don't know. So my cousin's suggestion was to look for people like me. Try the guide, she suggested, knowing that I already spend large amounts of time here. I have tried the Guide and found peace.
thank you thank you thank you.

Oh Jen Jen Jen my darling, I get so angry about getting B's it's not even funnysmiley - winkeye So I'm very much with you on that one...trust me, no one understands me either...my theories on life, my beliefs, my skepticism, my cynicism, my pessimism...(lotsa -isms...) It's ok...it gives you a chance to feel above other people, even tho that's not right to do...oh well! I'm an odd duck, and so are you! And so is Chauncey! It's all ok!!! smiley - winkeye

birds of a feather?
I think maybe it's just that people are too wrapped up in their own lives to notice sometimes. Maybe that's why I'm always looking at other people, always the one paying attention and noticing when something's wrong. I have no life to be wrapped up in. smiley - winkeye

My life: wake up, go to school, get fanatically happy about math homework, come home, do homework, practice violin, h2g2, go to bed. On weekends basically the same thing, just substitute go to rehearsal (dobry) or church and choir (dontbry) for school. My social life is nonexistant, which is probably good because some of my friends would freak me out if it was a social setting. Now that I mention it, I would probably scare a lot of people too, but most of the time I act the way everyone has come to expect me to act. It's not that I'm filling a mold deliberately, it's that I act the same way most of the time, and now people have come to expect it. It's just when the neurosis sets in that I do something different. smiley - winkeye

I definitely fall under the heading of eccentric.
as for everyone else I know-they all have their personal quirks, but I'm afraid I'm the most bizarre of the lot. Doing math homework makes me happy, I think Romeo and Juliette is the best thing ever written, my favorite item of clothing is my bowtie (although I rarely wear it).
My general interests are fairly esoteric, so not only am I strange, people often don't get me.
did that make any sense?
And the other thing-I'm nuts about etymology. Very fun.

Um...my favorite item of clothing is my Super Mario Bros shirt, Prepositional phrases and balancing chemical equations makes me happy, Runza is the best thing ever created (It's a restauruant here in Nebraska, USA, for those of you poor souls who don't know...) And I nearly worhship the Hitchhiker's Guide...smiley - smiley Does that qualify me?

My favourite item of clothing is/are blue jeans (any pair, I love them all!). Math homework, getting 110% on pop quizzes, science, reading good books, music, and well-written fanfic make me happy. I don't know about the best thing ever created, but mechanical pencils are definitely the most useful.

Darth, I think you're qualified.
Same for Renee.
As for the best thing ever created? Well the internet is nice. That means I can talk to all of you (and meet some of you to begin with). But chocolate is also pretty high up on the list. I don't really know if you can define a best thing.

oh, and I agree. Balancing chem. equations is also very fun. It's nice to see it all fall into place, very neatly.

Oooh, chocolate. You had me stopped dead in my tracks for a moment there, Jen. smiley - choc But I only write neatly when I use a mechanical pencil, and when I write neatly, the whole world is sunny and joyful, so . . . I've got to say mechanical pencils.

We don't do chemistry until next year at my school (same with algebra, for that matter.) But successfully conducting an experiment in science is a lot of fun.

~Renee, who very much enjoys recording the results of a perfect experiment, in her lab notebook, with a mechanical pencil!

We don't do chem until junior year, but we did a section on chemistry and balancing equations in IPS (my science class this year, short for Introduction to Phyical and Biological Science, but the "B" part is left out a lot because that's only fourth quarter)
List of likes: good books, internet, chocolate, violin, warm towels, Tafelmusik, TRIG! (in no particular order)

Darth calls it Satan's brain-child.
I use trig homework to get a natural high. (I LOVE trig!)
I don't know what math class you're taking, my guess would be nothing more advaced than Algebra I, but I'll assume you know what a right triangle is.
So then in right triangle trig (basic, least complicated) there are functions like sine, which is the proportion of the lengths of the side opposite the angle over the hypotenuse. Hope that made sense.
You know what, I'll just refer you to this article on trig so I don't have to explain it. It does a much better job, and I have better things to do right now (like math homework. unfortunately we finished trig and are now doing circles-lots of lovely theorems) A476606
Isn't the Edited Guide a wonderful thing?
