What do you put in the comments box?

When you return the entry to the editors, you are faced with a comments box, with something written by a already in it? What do you do with it? I've not seen any mention of it in SubEds' literature.

With my huge amount of experience , I can provide a variety of answers to that.
Actually wondered. I read in some other thread that they aren't even read half the time, so didn't worry too much. Put in a brief relevant comment, mentioned a reservation, and hit 'submit'.

That's about what I do, but isn't it a bit late for reservations - what you submit is pretty much the final article.

It was not a very serious reservation, or I would have taken care of it. Come to think of it... maybe I didn't put it in . Eh, whatevah. As mentioned, it is suspect that they are never read.

Was this forum ever mentioned in the off-site group? Just wondering what the level of subscription was.

I think it was, but there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of activity here.

As for the comments box, I do if I've got something to say - but otherwise no.
I have, once or twice, ranted at length!

I always put something in the box - if I can't think of something to say I just say 'All ready to go!' or something like that.
Occasionally, since I'm both a scout and a sub-ed, I've commented in the same box twice, which is a little somehow.

I don't think that somebody ever reads the comments. Looks like a good idea, but it's better to put it in the entry itself if you want to pass any information to the Eds...

Put it in the entry itself? Like big block letters on the top saying "this should never have been picked!" or something?!

No, I thought of something like 'Please add a link to A... once it gets picked.' But yes, in big block letters.

That's assuming that they look at the entry itself once you hand it back.

They'd probably have their attention drawn to it when it'd been on the FP for a few minutes.
