Some subbing advice - "she" for boats?
Gnomon - time to move on Started conversation Jun 18, 2010
I'm subbing an entry on Osborne House in the Isle of Wight. When talking about Royal Yachts, the entry sometimes uses "she" to refer to the yachts, and sometimes "it". I'm inclined to always use "it" as "she" gives a very outdated feel to the entry. What do others think?

Either or, so long as it's consistent. If I were the sub-ed I'd call it "she" but I don't think there's a precedent, and therefore up to you, Gnomon

I think 'it' would do nicely - 'she' seems more apt for particularly large boats, imho.
