Earl Holmes (I think I predicted this some time back) has been out for a visit. Both he and Clemons sound very upbeat and positive about coming to the NW, so I guess we'll have to wait and see which one of the two we end up with. Holmes sounds like he really wants to come, to team up with old Steeler buddies Willie Williams and Chad Brown, and both cited Ray Rhodes as a major reason for their interest.
Clemons had 13 1/2 sacks last year from middle linebacker, so may be a better fit if we can't find a DE with big pass rush potential.
On the other hand, Holmes recorded a massive 150 tackles last year, without playing on third down...

As I also irritatingly predicted, Holliday is leaning away from us and towards the Cards (top move there, boys in the office...).
We've had Chike Okeafor in for talks in what is beginning to look like despeartion to find some form of help on the D-Line...

Ryan Lindell will be kicking in Buffalo next year then - so I guess we'll be looking for a kicker next year as well...

Yup. Lindell seems, from his comments to be glad to be out, so I guess there was some sort of clash of personalities there...

To be honest, Kickers come, kickers go...There's always one floating around the league.
Though I have to say that my decision to use a sixth round pick on Janikowski in Madden 2K3 has paid off handsomely as he is now rated at 99, return yardage is a big fat zero and he kicks in the high 90's per centage wise...

yeah, they always seem to crop up don't they (unless you're the Redskins)... still, it's nice to have a guy like Mare locked up for a few years... more often than not, when it comes to those crucial game winning kicks, you know he's gonna come up with the goods..

What could have been... I'm being a bit naughty in work today, having brought in some reading material to help with the drudgery... Here's an excerpt from a review of the 93 season...
"In 1992, Seattle went 2-14 to tie for the worst record in the NFL. Five games into the new season, the Seahawks were 3-2 after winning their third in a row.
They reached that lofty perch () by manhandling the Chargers 31-14 as rookie Rick Mirer passed for 282 yards and a TD and scored on a 2 yard run.
'He's a right handed Steve Young,' Chargers cornerback Donald Frank said."
hmmm, we now see why Donald Frank never progressed to a coaching or front office position

sorry... perhaps I should mention the play I saw last night when Marino (yes Marino) ran (yes ran) around left end and out sprinted Greg Townsend and Howie Long to the sideline for an 8 yard gain...

'Tis nothing. Me and my mate (a die hard DolFan once laughed ourselves silly as Marino once ran for 13 yards. I seem to recall it might be the longest of his career...
We both thought he was going to have a coronary...

It probably was his longest... On the one I saw last night he looked quite sprightly... I was trying to get a look at the face under the helmet, just to check Steve Young hadn't infiltrated Danny's uniform...
Mind you, if you had Howie Long and Greg Townsend chasing you with brutal intent, I guess you'd run pretty fast too...

We're going off-thread and I was considering saving this up as a trivia question ... but how many total career rushing yards did Marino net?

Actually that 301 regular season rushes ... plus another 15 in post-season.
As I say give him some credit he had 66yds in 1992 itself ...
Key: Complain about this post
