How 'bout dem Seachickens?

Just bizarre...
Still, given our record with extra picks over recent years, I don't think a sixth round pick is exactly a high price to pay if he is talented - just wasn't something I was expecting, though it is increasingly clear that Chris Macintosh is not going to recover from his neck injury...

and, at least your guys traded for him as a backup. Miami was looking at him as a starter, which pretty much sums up our Tackle situation...

So what's the dish on Floyd 'Pork Chop' Womack, Jerry Wunsch and Dennis Norman? I know Wunsch was recently re-signed...
It seems to me they're expecting the worst with Jones... or are they just being ultra-prepared?

I think the lesson learned last year was that you can never have too many O-Linemen...I think our nominal starting Line actually played 0 games together last year, and we only managed three games with the same O-Line all season.
Frankly, we don't have anybody who can fill Walt's shoes right now. Losing him at this stage will probably be fatal to the team and to Holmgren and we can look forward to another three years of obscurity, by which time the defence will certainly need another overhaul, and I can't see the present offence sticking around without Holmgren.
My guess is that we will have two first round picks again this year, I must say, although we now can't sign Jones until after May 15 (I think), because otherwise we lose our 'Franchise tag' for next season, which we will certainly need for Shaun Alexander...

I thought Wunsch had signed for someone else...though he's still listed as an unsigned unrestricted free agent on our 'team glance' NFL page, as is Pork Chop.
I expect to see Pork Chop back, because he is one of Holmgren's 'guys', but I don't think we'd be looking at Wunsch to replace Jones...
Dennis Norman is still signed to us but with no starts in three years, gotta wonder whats up with that...

Wunsch signed a 2 year 1.8m contract about 2 weeks ago, so he's definately in the backup mix although I believe he has only ever played RT with Tampa Bay and Seattle...
Thompson I think, was looked at as a potential LT by Miami, and, I guess, Seattle... he's played there, albeit in a limited capacity, with Atlanta. Perhaps the Hawks other 3 back-ups have showed little LT ability... hence the trade.

They may get one anyway... There are 4 1st round LT prospects - Jordan Gross, Kwamie Harris, Wayne Hunter and George Foster. Certainly with the abundance of good D-Lineman, an extra pick in the first round could get Seattle Walters immeadiate replacement and still tend to the D-Line needs...

Of course, that's entirely dependant on anybody wanting to take a risk on Big Walt - a very expensive, somewhat difficult player - how many teams would want/afford him? Most pundits are assuming that the first five or six teams are locked on their draft choices already and none seem likely to be in the market for an LT...

what would you prefer... a D-Lineman, or trade Walt and get both? This assumes that Walt will continue to be difficult as I'm sure you'd prefer Walt to sign long term and be a dedicated Seahawk...

Trade and get both. We are putting together a long term team here. If he doesn't want to stay, get him out now. We certainly can't afford another four game sit out and four games getting up to pace like we had last year - the opening of our schedule is the tough bit...

perhaps Gross will fall to 11th... I read an article about him last night (ESPN.com), and he seems pretty good. Joe Bugel (poor HC but good O-Line coach) has been working with him and says he's one of the best LT prospects in years. His foot movement, agility and balance are apparently better and more natural than Boselli's were coming out of college...
What's the first round then?
Cin - Levi Jones last year
Det - Jeff Backus
Hou - hmm, could be a possibility with Bosellis uncertainty
Chi - took Colombo last year
Dal - Flozell Adams
Ari - the one area this team is stocked
Min - too McKinnie last year
Jac - a possibility, although they took Mike Pearson last year and seem set to grab a WR
?
?
not sure who the next two are but it seems a trade would be a good move to get one of the top LT's and take defense later in the round...

Texans are very hot on one of the top two wideouts...
Interestingly, I note that MLB is a bigger hole than I thought as Kacyvenski (last years starter), is till unsigned...

Is he? I read he signed a one year deal, same time as Wunsch... you're not getting your info from NFL.com again are you? Try espn.com... they seem to be on top of things more...

Well, I'd hope that Seahwaks.com ought to be on top of it, but...
Kaz could still do the job - I think he is intelligent and quick enough to work well in a Ray Rhodes defence.

We appear to have snuck our deal with two time winner of the Steve Largent award and all around good guy Mack Brown past just about everybody. Just reward for one of the hardest working and most popular members of our squad.

You know, it would help if I could hold a thought together for more than three minutes, wouldn't it.
I *meant Mack* Strong, 9 years a veteran with the team for 358 yards and three touchdowns, and 744 reception yards and ten touchdowns.
No glamour man, buthighly praised by Watters and Alexander as an extremely unselfish blocking back...

Ah!! Mixing his and Reggie Browns name up eh?
Yeah, I saw that about Strong... 3 years, 2.58m I belive... the value of a true blocking FB is never underestimated by us ex halfbacks..
