How 'bout dem Seachickens?

In fact, the Bronco's seem to be leaking a fair amount of talent...Is the Shanahan reign drawing to a close?

I don't think so... I think after the dissapointments of the last two years he's going for a complete overhaul... remember, they have to account for the ludicrous signing bonus paid to Griese, even though he'll be gone, and that will cost some talent... as well as Plummer and Gardener, they're also pursuing Hogh Douglas, along with the Hawks and KC...

Douglass was always likely to be one of the high profile free agents this year...along with Kwamie Lassiter - hard to think of a team that wouldn't be upgraded by adding either of them...

Interesting that they're going for a big change, given their seasonal rankings, as discussed previously. Thing is they have to overcome a quality 3-time divisional champion ...

Hmm, well, with you D-Line leaving on masse and both starting corners on the block, that may not be all that hard, I'm thinking...
I can see the Raiders still scoring a lot of points next year, but having a Rams style difficulty keeping the opposition out...

Both starting corners on the block?.... I don't think even Al Davis would get rid of Philip Buchanon just yet.....

James started most of last season due to Buchanon's injury. Looking at trhe history of players such as Jason Sehorn, corner is a notorious position for seriously injured players never quite getting it back. I'd like to keep a decent back up until Buchanon has proven he's still the real deal...

Serviceable yes, but in the same class as James? Hmm, I think not...
As to the asecond, well, you'd best answer to your conscience on that.

Didn't think James was that good really - Buchanon's young - their bodies recover at that age ...

*points at aforementioned Mr Sehorn for the other side of that story*
As for James, well, you'd know better than me...

Well, Bobby Engram has accepted terms and signed a five year deal which effectively seals the third WR position for the forseeable future, and should keep MH happy, as he seems to like the boy...

can't knock having a 3rd down possesion guy like him... will probably keep Hasselbeck/Dilfer happy too...
Big names and high profile signings are great, but the little signings like this can make all the difference...

Engram has proven invaluable since we signed him two years ago, both as a wiser, older head for Jackson and Robinson to relate to, and as a possession receiver...

Hmm, well, of all the third down possession guys and 'non-star' receivers we've had at Seattle, he is undoubtedly the best - though I still think Sean Dawkins was given an unseemly bums rush...

Dawkins did the rounds didn't he... Indy, Hawks, Jags, Vikes... did he have some kind of attitude problem as he always seemed good enough for a 3rd receiver, and a good one... perhaps he saw himself as a number 1 guy...

He was our starter for at least a season, before we signed old whatsisface from Green Bay, who was a spectacular success as well...
He was big and had good hands, but evn less speed than Steve Largent on Mogadon, so never likly to be a no 1 guy for long...I think we toyed with the idea of making him a TE, but perhaps I imagined that...

A world beater obviously...
