Well, if it leaves at 7:40 I would probably not need a hotel in London, I could go right from the meet to the airport.

smiley - cheerup

There was a movie in which a character played by Tom Hanks lived in an airport terminal for what seemed like a month or two.

I think B'Elana tried that last year, and was horrifed to find that Heathrow, one of the world's busiest airports, actually CLOSED during the night - so no coffee shops in which to snooze quietly and comfortably for a few hours.

I might turn up later in May; but definitely not for Royal Weddings. I don't have enough money smiley - 2cents for spend spend spend, I cannot afford the cheap rail fare of only £200+, every carriage is first class at 1830 which is the last train that gets me home in less than 10 hours.

So if I turn up at all it will be in May, I will bring my extraordinarily expensive camera, take a few snaps, have a cup of tea and go. smiley - tea

Possible then. I will come armed with a camera if I'm still alive. Possibly by smiley - bus since it is only 2 miles from Victoria. smiley - biggrin

I'm confused. Are you saying that Africa House is two miles from Victoria Station?

The #11 goes to Aldwich, then 0.3 miles up Kingsway. Could be there for 1330.
Return #11 stop R to Victoria, 1630 gets there for 1700. Last bus back home 1730hrs.

A lot of travelling for 2 hours but wot the wot, planned engineering works means Holborn inaccessible from Victoria.

The other choice is go by rail to Euston, last train back with a journey time less than 10 hours due to Burton station closed is 1830.

Last time I went by rail to London was in 1987 and I found I could not use my second class ticket because the train had only one second class carriage which was a sardine can, so I had to upgrade. smiley - yikes

I don't understand the fares smiley - doh looks like £278 to £328.

Put me down as definite now. I think bus to it and first class rail back.

The bus gets me there for 1330 and I will need to leave at around 2000hrs to return.

This will allow me to take the photo's I like after dark and make it worth the expense.

But I'm thinking should I take a reduced camera, 28mm lens that can auto focus or, manual focus only lens good for landscape.

The whole lot (big bag) is a bit of a problem in London. smiley - rofl

smiley - cheers

smiley - cheers I know you don't understand, money I mean.

Still, wots the bother with a meeting, except it is always London. What is wrong with Birmingham or Newcastle.

Cor.

Nothing. Feel free to organise one. After all there is one in Glasgow, one in Hull and one in Germany, that I'm aware of. It has just traditionally been London, as that's where the BBC is, and the italics...

And smiley - goodluck with organizing it. smiley - smiley to visit Manchester again...

And yes the 14th May is the date of the Meet.
