A Conversation for Reviews of the books of Terry Pratchett's Discworld

No, I'm talking about the fact that Roadkill is basically apologising to 'all of' me...

Well I'm sure we'll find out like 'The Truth' which had 25th Discworld novel... unless we have to wait until the possible but not plausable number 50...

Oh. Right. Gotcha.

But T.B. Falsename has written a review for Theatre of Cruelty, so you're not alone. That said, its not really a Discworld book, just a Discworld story, so the definition of the page would have to be changed for it to be included.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Well the videos are on the page... and Maurice and Wee Free Men are Discworld stories though inside a cover....

By the by, there's an e-mail in the front Monstrous Regiment that lets you 'get news FROM Discworld' which I hope will make me fret!

Yeah, but I've got a collection of short stories with Theatre of Cruelty in it. TOC is only 4 pages long. That surely can't count as a book, whichever way its painted.

I think we should put it up there for completeness. Do you know where it comes chronologically, after or before "Guards! Guards!"?

After if it's about Carrot.

It comes between 'Guards!' and 'Men at Arms'. It features Carrot, but theres no sign of Angua.

Looks like it's set between Guards! Guards! and Men At Arms...

Well, 'Guards!' was published in 1990.

TOC first appeared in the July/August 1993 edition of the WHSmith magazine 'Bookcase'. I actually picked the thing up at the time, but I think I've since lost it!

Publication date of 'Men at Arms' was November 1993.

Just to clarify.

Yeah it says in the. It seems there are times hootoo is sweet to me, and times it isn't. In those times I have to put reviews and stuff up. So Fifth Elephant is up there, but Theatre of Cruelty isn't. Falsie nicely makes the point that it's worthy of a look so that we can see how far Pratchett's come, literarily.

T.B. Falsename ACE: [stercus venio] I have learned from my mistakes, and feel I could repeat them exactly.

you lost the mag with it in? hah , that's worth a fortune, kinda like the original Carrot figure. Also, what book is ToC in, as PTerry said any one can download it, but he doesn't want to see hard copies being sold.

smiley - cheers

That's rare coming from an author.

Well it is a collector's item... and what kind of publisher would sell a page book?

The Fifth Elephant

Post 55

True. But perhaps as a little one, smaller than average size. Like the size of those little books of zen you can pick up at the tills in HMV.

The book I have it in is 'The Wizards of Odd' edited by Peter Haining, published in 1996.

Its a collection of Sci-Fi and Fantasy comic short stories.

Apparently it was published in WH Smith's 'Bookcase'.

I think I've seen something like it in an airport bookshop.

Anyway... It should go in the reviews on the simple fact that it's discworld.

By the way, I'm enjoying Monstrous Regiment!

Yeah.

Lucky you. I am currently lacking Monstrous Regiment. If you finish it soon, could you do a review?
