that's how people join- they write reviews.

Yeah but I tell them as like an initiation ritual or whatever they have to do a review. I'd like to get as many people in the reviews as possible, to show that Pratchett appeals to a wide range of readers.

You'll need to add 'Monsterous Regiment' to the independant characters list...
It came out yesterday and nobody told me it was Discworld!!!!!
The title doesn't sound like Discworld!

Indeed I will!
I know, I heard it was the third. There's a bloke I know who's going to get it at the weekend, I'll borrow it after him.

Sorry that's Monstrous Regiment not Monsterous Regiment!
I'm confused now. MR is supposed to be the 29th discworld novel... what's 27?
I can only presume that it's Last hero but that says fable on the cover!

Let me see. I'm fairly sure that The Truth was the twenty fifth or thereabouts. That would make Thief of Time 26, and Night Watch 27. The Wee Free Men are the 28th and Monstrous Regiment the 29th.

But 'Maurice' wasn't counted in that number. So 'Wee Free Man' shouldn't be either.
So 'Regiment' should be the 28th.

Hold on. Just had a thought. Were does 'Last Hero' fit in?
That could be the 27th, possibly. Making 'Night Watch' 28, and 'Regiment' 29.
Maybe.

That would make sense. I was wondering where that would fit.

*points to post 27*
But the others make clear that they are discworld 'novels'... Last Hero is a 'fable'.
And inside Monstrous Regiment (Just got it ) the discworld series does not include Last Hero...
It's underneath the maps etc.
Wee Free Men and Maurice are in with Good Omens and other non-disc titles...

Hmmm.... it starts in Borogravia, just south of Uberwald...

I think we'll have to assume that PTerry knows best.
How about that for our motto? "PTerry Knows Best"

But HE didn't say it was 29 it was BBCi Lanchashire!
I'm tasking it as 28 because I'd presume 28 books with 'novel' on them are what they are!

I must admit, I'm more disposed to it being number 28. I was just trying to think of a reason that it might be considered number 29.
Though I'm not particularly interested in getting into an argument over it.

But having said that...
My friend here in the office has told me that he has heard the new book described as Terry's 31st Discworld book.
If you added in 'Last Hero', 'Maurice', and 'Wee Free Men' then you would get to that number.
Maybe we are getting to bogged down on whether a book is strictly 'canon' or not. They all happen on the Discworld, after all.

Seconded. They're all great after all.
Oh, and apologies to those of you posting reviews. I don't seem to be able to update things at the moment .

Possibly.
But I guess you can call it what you like. As I said, I'm not going to argue the case, as I'm not convinced it actually matters at all.
