We think we can bring you three new links every week. These are Entries which would never pass the Writing Guidelines for the Edited Guide for one reason or another, but which we
believe have much to offer just as they are.

author, h2g2 veteran Uncle Monty has not been seen at h2g2 for a little while. But his is a fine

Do Not Buy This Gift by LÒÒnytunes
Once again, the Kiwi curmugeon known as LÒÒnytunes has impressed us with his world view. At this time of year many of
us have to deal with gifts that have assembly 'Instructions' which are notoriously written in some strange alien version of
English sometimes called Japlish. So, if you're struggling with 'some assembly required' this Holiday Season, take a deep
breath, a really deep breath, and enjoy.

Before I read this entry, I thought of the Orkneys as a place to find good scotch. Having read this entry, I think of the
Orkneys as a good place to be from.
Everybody has to be from somewhere, eventually. I guess it is comforting to be from somewhere that regards itself as the
pushpin of the universe. I've never been anywhere, myself.
The author of this piece has displayed all the qualities I like to find in a good Sunday morning yard sale: grit, repaired cracks
that hardly anyone will notice, that warm worn patina that comes from years of being handled but not used (as we lost the
directions), and the lowest of prices.
