h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I believe that links on other BBC sites will re-direct to the equivilent page on h2g2.com; the BBC won't retain a copy of h2g2 themselves. I'm not 100% about this though, I've not been involved in that aspect of the move.

Everyone will still have their BBCiD if they want to use it around the BBC, but it will not work on h2g2.com after the move.

h2g2.com will redirect to the current version of the site until the BBC switch off their version (currently scheduled for Monday). Once the BBC switch off their version, h2g2.com will update and become the 'real' h2g2 and will display whatever we want it to display. . That's likely to be a holding page until we are ready to launch.

Well I hope its abundantly clear how to get to Brunel. Some have said to me you'll be able to set preferences like here..mind you I only know how to do that in Brunel..or Gnomon has said it might be different.

Actually that was to do with name changes which will be my number one priority..but I presume it would also apply to skins.

If all else fails, we can change skins manually at the moment, so don't worry.

The new BBC homepage is going the way of all pages just like Windows 8 with the horizontal scrolling to content which is OK for touchpads but not for mouse driven PCs but everything seems to be set-up for touchpads/iPhones etc these days...and also the page is still very WHITE.

I think you're right about the redirect, but didn't one of the Gurus say the BBC were keeping a snapshot of the site before they pull the plug? Just so they have it for their records I think. All the functionality transfers with us though. At least that's how my non-techy brain understood it.
