You can call me TC

Trying to read this thread just now (in fact, all of the threads I had opened to read) .... it just whizzed up the page and then disappeared when clicked on. Have never had that before. What have they been giving those hamsters?

This may just be peculiar to my computer, but it happened 4 times. When I am at work (on my breaks of course smiley - whistle) I have always used IE for my browser. But I use Netscape for my mail. Four different days over the past few weeks when I was getting tons of error messages on IE, I opened the site on Netscape and was able to access the site just fine. So to check that the browser was actually making a difference, I left both of them open. Errors on IE. No errors on Netscape.

That's a fair point Hyp... I get a lot more errors using IE at in the office than I do using Firefox at home.

No shock there then, IE is awful I much prefer Mozilla Firefox, would recommend it to anyone. Real pop-up blockers, in built search engines, tabs rather than new windows - its just a lot better.

Gnomon - time to move on

I use both Firefox and Internet Explorer in work and there's not much to choose between them. I prefer separate windows to tabs, as I find them much easier to manage. And I don't get many popups, so the main reason for preferring one to the other is its ability to display pages. IE is better for h2g2, as it can allow me to search text while I am editing it. For some reason, Firefox doesn't allow this. But Firefox is better at displaying foreign characters.

How do you mean search text?

Have you tried clicking on the page (but not the text, so that a cursor isn't flashing) and pressing / that normally brings up a bar at the bottom that helps find text - just make sure you aren't in a typing box at the time.

Kat - From H2G2

Actually, to be honest, I just raised my eyebrow at it and went away. I'm only posting now so that you can be reassured that h2g2 people are actually reading what you're saying.

Plus the ACE's aren't supposed to be peace-makers around the site, they are meeters-and-greeters.
