Nostradamus

Dear fellow researchers
In light of the recent distressing events, I had difficulty deciding whether to post the following prediction. It is copied DIRECTLY from a quake by Nostradamus, and I include it "as is", including its grammatical and spelling errors. Make of it what you may...
"in the year of the new century and nine months, from the sky will come a great King of Terror... the sky will burn at 45 degrees. Fire approaches the great new city.
In the city of york there will be a great collapse, 2 twin brothers torn apart. by chaos while the fortress fall the great leader will succumb d third big war will begin wen the big city is burning - NOSTRADAMUS."
The only inaccuracy I can find while reading and re-reading the above is that New York lies at the 41st degree Latitude, but if you consider his predictions regarding Hitler, Napoleon and Pearl Harbour, I hope he's wrong.
Take care,

I've seen the same quote that refers to september 1999 - beware of the knowledge and surety found in hindsight, and how things can be twisted to make sense. Nostradamus made many predictions, and all of them can be interpreted in many different ways to point at many different things.

mmm ok well York is in northern Uk and seems to be ok when I last checked! 45 is not 41!!! An obvious fact. Most if not all wars start with cities burning! Apparantly the sky is also blue! Plus as far as Nostradamus is concerned there have been dozens of 'big' wars since his age. Just because we call certain wars world wars doesn't mean that the Napoleonic wars (for example) were not big wars! And as for the rubbish about him being right about hitler, napoleon and pearl harbour!!!
Final point - is that a direct quote cos I've been informed that it's a collection of his quotes cobbled together!

So basically, what we're saying is that York was wiped out by a forest fire in 1999? I'm sorry to hear that.

I don't know if it's one quote or not, I know the one I saw was only the first couple of lines though...
Watch out for errors in translations as well...

Nostradamus would probably be quite amused to think his scribblings have been taken up by future generations as anything more than the writings and doom laden rants of a genuine comedian.

The nearest relavent quatrains of Nostradamus (1503 - 1566) that I can find. Looks like it's been cobbled together from parts of these three. I can't find any reference to the last bit about the great leader succumbing either. Make of it what you will and try and work out what he really said (if anyone will ever know).

Nostradamus - The Facts

The Facts
Given this email seems to have circled the globe about 5 times so far - and
no one is focussing on all the good out there nor in our own lives, I
thought it might be an idea to actually try and track down this 'mythical
1654'.
Yes - lots of time on my hands today. Market in total shock and clients
even worse.
Nostradamus actually predicted the end of the world in what was known as
"Quatrain X-72" (verse X72 in one of his books) which pinpointed the date as
July 1999. He was French and the verse reads:
L'an mil neufcens nonante neufsept mois
Du del viendra grand Roy deffraieur
Resusciter is grand Roy d'Angolmois
Aunt apres Mars regner par bon heur.
Translated as basically in seventh month of 1999 something bad is goin to
happen - which we all know today did not. Some translate it as the 4th of
July 1999.
There is plenty of stuff on the web out there including www.
[URL removed by moderator] so if you are so inclined go have a surf.
1654 was actually another year that the end of the world was predicted. Oh
- and he has also predicted it as 22nd June next year along with another
great prophet - so I am sure we can look forward to more emails then. It is
also predicted as 2100, but none of us will be here to put up with email
then.
Pray for those that have suffered so terribly
in the USA and reflect on all the great things we enjoy on a daily basis but
probably take for granted.

I thought that that King of terror verse can also be translated as a certain town in France having a festival, or something of that ilk!
Why was Nostradamus predicting things for September 2001 if the world was going to end in July 1999?

This whole string is in really bad taste. A stadium full of people are dead and we're having an intellectual jerk off about whether Nostradamus predicted it - just really bad taste.

mozandmarr Posted Sep 13, 2001
Why is this in bad taste? I think it's incorrect but I don't particularly think it is any worse than all these knee jerk reactions to kill all arabs and other crap like that! The string is called Nostradamus so it was blindingly obvious what it was about if you are going to be offended by it!
