Thanks, Rat. I assumed the readership of this thread would be pretty small, and obviously highly select!

7rob7: Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) Posted Dec 9, 2001
It took me several days to understand the reference, and it had been jumping up and down in front of me screaming for attention like a child in a restaurant. While I realize my preferences for strong cheeses (and the fact that I defy the world by continuing to smoke) makes it harder for me to smell things I oughta, I'd not thought that it would dim other cognitive abilities as well.
The possibility that I'm far more dense than I'd like to be has to be considered as well (based also on the fact that I defy the world by continuing to smoke.)

Which reminds me of a gloriously mixed metaphor from a British MP.
"I smell a rat, I see it hanging in the air. We must nip it in the bud".

Sorry, Ben. I just read the email about the latest catastrophe. I don't think you've done anything wrong. You had no obligation to reply to her and no obligation to remain silent about it.
But you have to admit, taken out of context, it was odd to see the SBVM called "nauseous f***s" and all that in this thread. I figured it was too far out of character for you to say something like that and mean it.

Well my quote in post 25 was from an MP, but an Irish one. This is a peach of an entry from Azara. http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A544088

Ok - the next question - I was kinda wondering whether to put next to each member of the SBVM their 'criminal record' using some sort of smiley-code. Perhaps for a warning, for a suspension, for a month's suspension, and for a lifetime ban. Or some other code...
We wouldn't want people to think that we're researchers just like everyone else, after all!
Over to ya...

How about the smiley for people like Tube and me, who haven't annoyed the PTB enough to get warned or banned...

Don't worry, Rat. Someday, somewhere, when you least expect, someone will tell you, "S***E! You're on Candid C****a!"
It is done

... for additional colour, I used the smiley to denote those people who've had serious amounts of stuff smacked by the censors - sorry, but losing a URL or a swear word simply won't cut it! If anyone has had battle-honours missed, or if anyone has been given awards that they shouldn't be entitled too, let me know.

Well, a couple of versions of my name were taken away from me, and I was Researcher U148580 for a while just after Rupert.
And the Short Guide to Short Words (which I wrote as a direct response to moderation) still has to be hosted on Geocities. If a mew page includes a link to it the new page is modded away, and Peta has to intervene with a note saying it's ok to link to The Short Guide.
I dunno if that means I have been or not. It felt like it at the time.
