Dan Simmons is not very well known, but apparently everyone who does read his books really likes them.

And I expect that if you were to go to a bookstore you'd se a lot of copies of the Da Vinci Code... its been out for maybe 2 weeks.

I love sci fi but I'm not that into crime.

I like Robert Rankin, Terry Pratchet, Douglas Adams, Dune, Windsinger, Redwall, lots of stuff. Most of it fantasy though.
I like 1984. And some Arthur C Clark as well. And Asimov.
