Now, Lizzie, can I ask you a question? It's a secret. I believe that you could help me out.

What is it, Mr. Gilling?

Lizzie, do you know what my part-time occupation is? I'm a treasure seeker. Your talk with your cat, imaginative as even you admit it is, convinced me that you're the type who'd help me. I originally wanted to talk to your Father, but he's busy right now, so you'll do.

Anyway, I have a dilemma. I joined this crew because I think that someone in your family, probably your father has an artifact from a vessel that crashed several years ago. Have you ever noticed either of your parents with an odd cross, plated with gold and encrusted with jewels? If I could find this little token, I'd know the location of the fifth lost cross of Ur. Have you even seen your parents with it?

By the way, was that story about being an elf really just a vivid imagination? Excuse me for experimenting....

I have a chart and some dice to determine this ....

The spell fails to work.

*Blinks, and smiles*

So, you are an elf then, aren't you? Don't worry, I won't let your secret out. With all the evil in the world these days, you'd probably stay in less trouble if this fact was not well known. Still, this means that you could probably help me a great deal. Would you mind meeting me in my cabin shortly? If you truly are an elf, you might have a certain knowledge hidden in your head that would help me finish a quest that I've been on for years. Would you mind doing that for me? Please?

*Notices Mrs. Briggs in the door*

Perhaps we should break this up for now. Please stop by later.

I'm sorry, Mr. Gilling, I've never seen a cross like the one you describe. But I have become aware that there seem to be many mysterious things happening on this ship and I am curious about them. I will try to meet you in your cabin later, circumstances permitting, of course.

*Turns to the door, as Mother has just entered.*
