Captain Brigg's Cabin

I will have some privacy with this woman! Unless you have business here that requires immediate attention then you will all take your leave this instant!
And if you somehow feel that I cannot be trusted alone with Mrs. Briggs then stand guard outside the door! In fact, I insist on that! And if you think I pose a threat to her just because I have this stupid toy then take it!
Don't play with it over much, and I'll have it back when I am done here. Now leave, all of you!

ooc - oh, yeah, d'E, that's gonna help calm the poor slob down!
What? Now what fresh Hell is this?!!
There's nothing here! There's nothing here! What are you people doing to me!!!

*ignores the unseemly outburst*
I go to the galley. My hide is there. As you have no duties for me, First Mate, I will help out where I can. And I will be back later to look at the captain's health. Meanwhile,*fiddling briefly in one of her pouches* Sarah Briggs, if he wakes, steep this piece of moss in a small cup of hot water to make a tea and give it to him. I think it will be a good idea if he resumes his duties as soon as possible.
I got my hunting knife back in the forecastle.

And I actually thought she was here to arrest me!

*looks surprised by the parade of visitors coming into the cabin. gives Richardson a look that let's him know that their conversation is far from over, even as she moves away from him*
Thank you, Uli. *smiles* I am sure that he will be well, but your assistance is much appreciated. *looks thoughtful* You say that Martens watched Al... Mr Richardson enter and then walked off... How odd...
Mr Volkert, Baltimore is rather an odd destination. Why do we need to go there? *eyes the sword as if belatedly realizing that perhaps asking a man in possession of both a very large sword and the ability to use it questions was not the best of ideas*
Mr Head, I hadn't gotten a chance yet to thank you for your assistence during the attack and inquire after your health. Were you injured in any way?
*sits on the bunk next to Benjamin's still unconcious form and feels her eyes drift back towards Richardson*

Sorry, I fell behind.
Why would she arrest you, Al *becomes aware of the others still in the room* Mr Richardson? Perhaps you shouldn't answer that until the others go... *looks pleadingly at the cook and Volkert*

I must pull myself together, or we must summon Mr. Gillings and inform him that he has command. I will trust your judgement, Sarah, as to which course to follow.

*looks at Richardson seriously for a moment, then suffers an attack of conscience, realizing that she has put him in this state. stands up and walks over to him*
Albert, I have total faith in your ability to control both yourself and this ship. *places a hand on his arm, briefly* And you would not be First Mate if Benjamin did not have similar faith in you. *glances again at the unconcious captain* In matters of the ship, I defer always to his judgement and his judgement was that you were fit.
Perhaps if you tell me what is weighing down your heart and mind so much now, I shall be able to help you come to grips? *trails off as she takes a seat next to him again*

It seems your protectors do not wish to leave you alone with me. I understand this. You see, I mean you and Lizzie no harm, but...To return home I must bring with me extrodinary proof than my theory is correct. I must be able to present my...research subjects.
I have decided not to do this, but this is a mater upon which I have changed my mind several times.

Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Sep 23, 2001
*brow furrows, thinking of herself as a 'research subject'. then she realizes the full impactof what he has said* You mean to say... You think Lizzie... Goodness, Albert! She couldn't be! I would have... Benjamin would have known.
*examines Richardson more closely* But you have chosen not to go home... For our sake? Albert, that is the most... Well, that is to say... Surely there is someone else who can help you? You are a charming and handsome man, and I'm sure that there are many women who would... um... assist you in your study gladly.

We will not survive the voyage, in all likely hood, if we do not divert course....
[adressing the air near the first mate]Captain, tell me a little more please
[to the first mate] arrest you? what have you done to warrant arrest?
Captain Brigg's Cabin
Mac (having trouble typing with a pug dog in his lap) Posted Sep 23, 2001
You first, Volkert. You claim the ship is endangered unless we change course. I believe that has priority. Explain yourself, and leave nothing out.
ooc - Baltimore? OK, you guys have thrown the author again - ooc

*glances at Volkert, hoping that her statement has not given away too much. then realizes that it matters very little, for Volkert must have realized what is going to happen and may know that it is all her fault. clutches her hand to her heart and looks panicked briefly, before regaining her composure and turning back to Richardson*

[OOC]- yesss!
We must no longer head east, certain doom is in that direction......Capt. McLellan, being the resident ghost, is an expert in death....

........recall the tale that I recalled to you....the valkyries.....I have seen them, we must turn west immediatly or we will all perish.....
Captain Brigg's Cabin
Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Sep 23, 2001
The valkyries, Mr Volkert? I thought that they were just a legend...
*takes the valkyrie figure that Volkert gave her earlier out of her pocket and studies it, them him*

Volkert, I cannot stand before a court of inquirey and explain that I disobeyed standing orders and diverted from my Captain's last course on the advice of the ship's ghost! I shall need more from you than Valkyries. Unless I get a more compelling argument then we remain on course.

....I'm afraid, there aren't as many beings of legend as today's society as one has been lead to believe....
....there is a Ghost haunting this ship, what more of a reason do you need to show to your superiors.....we must turn about...
