*lights fade up on a smoky pool hall. sea can be seen throwing darts energetically at a dartboard on the wall. upon closer inspection, there seems to be a picture of richardson on the dartboard...*
[sea] *mutters* stab /me/ with a sharp metal object, will you... well, mr richardson, i think you've just made an appointment to meet the Evil Claws of Intense Pain!!!!!!!!!!
*sea laughs maniacally, throwing her arms into the air - accidentally dropping a dart on her foot. lights fade as she hops around, clutching her injured foot and saying very bad words, like [expletive deleted by moderator]*

*hmmm.... i seem to be floating in mid-air... whatever am i going to do about it?*
*i do land on my feet... i could struggle and scratch and try to get away.... but that only seems to work if the person who is holding me is tangible...*
*i could stick my head in the sand... but i'm not an ostrich, i don't have access to sand, and i'm not on the ground. darn*
*how 'bout i imitate a statue? seems to work for... um... possums! yeah! possums!*
*okay, then it's decided. the cat has become statue-kitty!*

questions for GL:
what, if anything, can i do in the cargo hold? am i a totally ineffectual character? can i run out of the hold, evading gillings, and fetch help?

Well, Sarah dispelled the sticky-floor spell, and I don't think Gillings has thought to replace it, so you have free movement. Unfortunately, Sarah's magic is out of commission now. You can evade any physical attack, so if you can get hold of the soulstone, you might be able to keep it out of Gillings' hands. And the heat of it wouldn't bother you. Of course, Gillings could think up some spell to try and get it back, but at least you might have delayed things until help (hopefully) arrives.
So, no, you aren't totally ineffectual.
Should I be giving hints like this? Or should I be letting the characters figure out things like this themselves? Oh well, if they ask directly...
