Timothy McVeigh referred to the kids who died in the daycare section of the Oklahoma City Federal Building as "collateral damage." He didn't seem too concerned that they were innocents. Unlike the al-Qaeda terrorists, he wasn't a suicide bomber, so he got caught and put on trial.

Trouble is, every time you have transit-system attacks like Madrid
or London, security goes up in Boston's transit system. I don't honestly know how putting more police in the trains is going to help, unless they have some special training in spotting potential bombs.

I agree. Putting cops on trains and at stations just makes people more nervous.

Has anyone heard from Light today?

the thought of people killed, injured or bereaved of their loved ones is hard to bear.

in particular if you know these people.

I spoke to someone who has heard from Light. Thank goodness. She was in central London but was not harmed in any of the bombings.

I'm glad to hear Light is okay.

I'm still mad at the people responsible for the bombings.
almost 800 were killed or injured, and an enormous city sent into panic and confusion. This was not small potatoes!

Be brave, London, we're on your side over this.

You only have to look at what happened to London during the blitz to see that.



The only thing these terrorists have achived is to bring people closer together, and to make them more determined than ever not to be afraid!


I saw one news report of a guy who'd been on the tube that had been carrying one of the bombs, The next day he was ready (face all scratched and whatnot) to ride the tube again, determined that these people would not scare him out of his daily routine. A true Brit if ever I saw one

I think that is all of us. I remember after 9/11 - I went with my "Jewish mother" (my boss' mother - she adopted me because she says everyone in NYC needs a Jewish mother ) to donate blood. The lines were so long the phlebotomists were having to rest in shifts.

We stopped at a sidewalk cafe as well - an idea that seemed shared by many. There was no fish, no bread and limited wine selections because they got everything shipped in from the burroughs and no traffic was allowed in or out of Manhattan. But darn it all if many New Yorkers weren't going out for wine or water (or whatever) in a steadfast refusal to be intimidated! At every table it was the same - no terrorist was going to kill the spirit of NYC!
