I don't know what there is about Kes' navigational skill that is up for debate. On the other hand we have seen many parts for the world from the deck of the Blood that might otherwise have been missed if we took a more direct route. All of which makes Kes the ideal choice really. For example he's taken shore leave an locked the navigational equipment leaving us wandering lost in the southern ocean. (or are we still in Hobart? I've lost track of the b'log) Perhaps by the time he returns we will be counting penquin eggs in Antarctica. An excellent excuse for downing lots of medicinal brandy to ward off the cold you know!

don't worry about the navigation. the autopilot is on and the controls locked
we should meet "the flying dutchman" any day now - as that vessel is beeing steered in exactly the same way
