*awakes from snooze* Aye, we did say Ireland.
My Jameson stocks are perilously low.

as much as we miss our navigator i think we can manage without him. he taught me a lot over the years and besides, i've sailed a bit myself
besides, we still have the SEP-generator, the GPS-thingie and a lot of imagination

Ireland is famous for more than whiskey. Waterford, which makes fine china and crystal, is located there. Irish music and poetry and drama are world-famous.

Oh thank you Paul - Waterford crystal is sooooooo beautiful. I'm sure I have room for a candelabra ( not as posh as the captain's diamond one to be sure, to be sure, to be sure)***
And a few new champagne flutes for my Roederer

Beautiful textiles and tea sets...the Irish have some very nice things in their homes.

Did you not know that I have met the Doulton family? I have lots of Doulton too. and... now don't get me started on china...
I was born and brought up as a Potter, so I cannot possibly drink out of anything unless it is fine bone china, honest, I am being serious, believe me! It's an blessing and a curse.

Lanzababy, I love you for that bone china remark!
Pierce, the china with the handpainted periwinkles is not Royal Doulton, though some of the Royal Doulton factory outlet stores keep some pieces on hand so they can show shoppers who really made the pattern. I'm guessing that it's Royal Grafton.
Obsessed about china? Me? Why do you ask?

ah a fellow china collector - then you will love me even more when I tell you that my grandfather was a manager for Grafton china for many years - it really was very pretty ware.

hehehe, the royal doulton with the handpainted perriwinkles is fictional, yet often heard about in the british sitcom 'keeping up appearances'
i know it well, since the character onslow (couch potato) is a role model for me and a couple of friends
