this time of year? you must be nuts

It's cold, the natives are celebrating the upcoming harvest & it's fairly stromy weather!!!

Quick greeting from mari-rae and me. We're OK, but largely off-line ... and missing all you guys!!!!
*Pops onto the Bridge with a tray of Daiquiris*
Crushed nuts? No, my voice goes like that because of the cold weather ....

*turns on radar scanner thingy and twiddles with all the knobs*
*pushes all the buttons on the GPS and makes it go 'beep'*
*winds up the clockwork Loran receiver and gets out the special charts*
*tunes in the BBC Droitwich 1500m signal and turns the handle that goes through the roof to the directional antenna*
*disappears through the wheelhouse door with Kes' sextant, a bottle of rum and some suntan oil, muttering something about a sun-shot*

*returns through wheelhouse door, puts Kes' sextant back in velvet lined wooden box*
Don't Panic !! i know exactly where we are...
Our present position, allowing for magnetic declination, continental drift and the El Nino effect, and given that the REAL Navigator only pops in here occasionally is exactly...
er give or take oh say 300 ft.
er...
42degrees,54minutes South, 147degrees,18minutes East.
There...told you i could get a fix.

Whew!!! That puts us just a few minutes from Hobart. A short commute to the brewery.

F F Churchton Posted Mar 6, 2003
Although maritime traffic around the habour is atrocious!!!
The Bridge
Alec Trician. (is keeping perfectly still) Posted Mar 7, 2003
...a short commute indeed Harry, it was actually the lines still fastening us securely to the dock that gave our position away,
...that and the fact that 'the plank' is resting on the brewerys loading dock...

look, i'm holding TWO sextants

In that case it is clear what we should do:
Roll in the barrel!

... and if anyone's planning on using that sextant again, I find it works better if you put the little half-mirror thingy back into it. I've been using it as a shaving mirror, but you only have to ask .... .
*Fiddles with the twiddly things on the LORAN and locates Start Point somewhere inside the drinks cabinet*
