Well, I hadn't read hte manual, I never realised I was ment to do that before ringing you.

If you leave it piling up in the sink long enough, then by the law of avarages, a process of osmosis and a sort of trickle-down effect, it will wash itself.

Well, if I had bought you a present, it would have only ruined it for next year.

What was here before is no longer the case.
It has been moderately hidden.
Because - well, it sort of broke some kind of theoretic principle of possibly hidden moderate decorum.
Not sure which one - pick one - it probably broke that one, in some way.
Not sure what way exactly, just some way - and someone, possibly you, might have got moderately upset and then hidden.
To be concise:
Something was hidden somewhere because it might have upset someone in someway and somebody might have hid.
