OK - I'll do it.....but since we probably can't get it added - what's the point?
Or can we design and nominate smileys again?

Out of interest, do any of you get that ghastly pop-up offering 4,000 smileys?
How come they can do that many, when we get about 40-ish? (and no I haven't counted)
Maybe we could hijack the Pop-ups?

I've got offered smileys, but I don't know how much.

Ever wonder what pays for those "free" smileys?
Basically, when anyone opens an email with those smileys in it, the images are requested from a central server. With many email clients, the recipient's email address is included in the request for the image, and sold on to SPAMmers as a "confirmed live" address.
So basically every time you send those smileys to your friends you're sending a copy of their email address to the SPAMmers.

I don't send the smileys as such, I just copy the picture and send that instead!

I do that myself as I have no idea how you do smileys outside h2g2.
