For Sure.
Although I think Jim Carey is a brilliant actor, he definitely does not suit the character of Arthur Dent!
For a few reasons
(a) He is not British
(b) He is too famous and type casted as a comedian- I think Arthur should be played by a relatively unknown British actor
(c)HE WOULD SHIT US TO TEARS AND RUIN THE hg2tg movie!
I'm sure there are many other valid reasons too???

Indeed. The movie is out on April 29th so you'll all be able to see whether the choices were right. I think they were all excellent personally.

there is one now. . Was wondering though if there was ever an animated cartoon version, if not a highly detailed anime-esque style one would be really, really cool.

sooooo?? what do you think of the film?
i personally liked the film, but not excessively, like the H2G2 series which was awsome.
i mean the film is H2G2 set in the present day, which makes it accesible, but obviously your gonna lose some of that stiff upper lip britishness that was part of the books 30 years ago. But this was a smart move as the film shouldn't be a rehash of the series.
One complaint though. I thought the humour was a bit dumbed down, and the humour that was taken from the original was a bit banal. like for instance when Ford and Arthur are in the air lock, and the phrase that should have been used would be:
Arthur - its times like these that i wish i'd listened to what my mother said to me.
Ford - what did your mother say to you?
Arthur - I don't know, i never listened.
genius
oh and
Arthur - so this is it we're going to die
Also why oh why did they have to throw in some love interest. the funny thing in the book was that Arthur "utterly failed to get of with" with the nice looking atrophysitist.
anyway other than that the film was good. not too much adherence to the film. a nice bit of originality with the point of view gun.
