I'm gonna raise a mass theological debate here: God; fact, or fiction

'Information is a subset of causality where the object affected is structured to respond to certain effects, but not others.'
What precisely do you mean by 'effects' here?
As you can see, my embrionic skills are finding this statement rather inpenetrable.
Toxx, I was responding to you! I have this habit of responding to two people in the same post. Had it ever since I came here, I use to respond to everyone /en masse/!

I don't want to encourage you Shady guy, but I can't resist. I can *guarantee* you're not older than I am and sadly, you sound like the 2 year old, not Jordan!

Hi Shady Guy .
And welcome to the debate.
So what is your take on the question originally posed: God, Fact or Fiction? I am sure that all we 'naieve tossers' are dying to hear the deep philosophical wisdom you are even now preparing to share with us.
However, if it is as I suspect, that you are just some bored loser who wants to see if he can make himself feel bigger by abusing people he is not worthy of breathing the same cyber-air as, then I suggest you found your own forum.
I pride myself on my tolerance for all points of view, even when expressed in a robust manner. But it is quite obvious from your contribution to date that you have nothing to offer and are just tossing yourself off on your own perception of your importance.
I suggest that you grow up and get a life. When you do we will be quite happy to talk to you.
Blessings,
Matholwch the Apostate /|\.

Hi Jordan. I think you're right to take Noggin to task over that quote. I suspect that the word 'effects' is an error and that he wants to say 'inputs' or 'stimuli'. If he is right, I think he is only trivially right. Can you think of anything that responds to every possible input? I can't, but I can see the sense in which all objects embody information about themselves.

Wow, so glad someone said that, I lost the thread of this conversation a while back. I'll debate using science, theology or psychology, but I can't cope with maths. Not to that level, anyway!
Anthea, whats your take on the original question? God:fact or fiction?

Jordan Posted Feb 5, 2003
My take is well-known: God is Math. I mean, God is Matholwch. No, I meant Dog is Htam... Fath... Faith...
...Fiction!
No, still not right...

you cant describe a living thing let alone the one creator
with maths or words that mean the same thing.
P.S i'll tone down the insults but at least i'm not having a
weirdo mid life crisis that would give me the urge to join
let alone start this weird conversation.
thank you so much for un unwanted and unwitty witicisms that
truly do make the world a truly horrible place in which to live
and even share with all you weird people.I'm outa here but you havent
heard the last of me yet.GET A LIFE LOSERS.

Calmez-vous, Shady! We're people, just like you. We just have different interests and like to discuss other things, that's all! Perhaps you can find a forum where there are people who have the same interests as you - or perhaps start your own in 'Ask h2g2?'

Because we... (choose one)
(a) all want to make love, not war;
(b) forgot how to make sandwiches; or
(c) think Bush is making enough trouble for the lot of us?
