Math is limited only by consistency. Truth (other than that based on the coherence theory of truth) doesn't come into it. There are infinitely many consistent axiom sets.
Where are these House Rules? I don't recall having to sign up to them.

Though the formal logic we've used for centuries is firmly based on common sense - maths is just an extension. Besides, there are general rules that govern all logics - for example, Gödel's theorem.
And what else do you propose? Intuition? If so, why even bother trying to make sense? Maths is useful. That's all there is to it. And the math that governs infinity (that's what we were arguing about) is quite valid, so far as I can make out. What don't you like about it?

Re: Early age childbirth... my wife was born to a teen mother, and raised by her grandparents. She is very loving, a bit spoiled, but is the only of her 6 sisters that can cook!
Her mother, however, is best described as flighty and irresponsible in most instances, to the degree that I did not feel that my children would be safe to spend more than one night with her (not THAT kind of safe; choking on marbles safe).
Now my oldest is 20, and I don't wonder if he has children if they wouldn't be better off being raised by me!
Maybe it skips generations or something

Diversity. seems that the 'proof of the pudding is in the eating.'
A middle aged couple , who have had the benefit of a full life outside the domestic home before coming to raise their grandchildren, seems to me to be the perfect answer to child rearing.
your wife being the only one to know how to cook, what does this a bit spoiled thing mean though.

I get that too with music.
A sonic chord can hit me right between the eyes (although not generally any lower regions ) but I know what you mean.
So that seems to imply that either we're both abnormal or very normal.
I am awful at remembering names of pieces of music.
Barbers Adaggio ?????? does this to me when ever I hear it and makes me feel that there must be A God to inspire man to produce these amazing sounds.

Hasslefree;
Not spoiled in a bad way, but the little tricks that she used as a child to sway her grandparents seem to work with her husband also... a cute little pout at just the right time has put me at a distinct disadvantage in well over half of the logical discussions that I have lost in 21 years of marriage
I don't discount the wisdom of 'the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach' either. Nor does she!

Then that is not spoilt but being shown how to get the 'advantage' without 'bloodshed ' or the other person feeling bad about it
A tremendous life skill that ensures personal survival
I don't think you can spoil a child with affection, only with things.

I admit to stirring but not 'trouble'. I like to stir up a debate. If someone finds that troublesome, hard luck! I don't try to set people against one another, but I'm prepared to be unpopular myself if that's what it takes to get a discussion going. I may sail close to the wind, but I don't think I've actually violated the House Rules.

The only problem I feel is that in doing so you appear to sometimes debate from a position that you actually don't believe yourself.
I think this is commonly known as a 'Wind up.' So in the end it's hard to get a picture of what you truely believe in, apart from the winding up

Phew, calm down! Well, at least I know I'm not the only one with a persecution complex. I just said you were trolling, if only in a minor way. I think a little bit of stirring through uch means is a perfectly legitamate thing to do. Why so defensive? I certainly haven't seen anyone hit the 'yikes' button.
Don't worry about it, my words were partly in jest.

Yep that was a definite trollism. I did a whole PhD thesis on consequents and antecedents, and what you said was such utter garbage that I had to find out where you were coming from.

There are some nutters on these boards who actually mean stuff like that! How was I to know that you're almost rational, Jordan?

Bwa-ha ha ha!
I was actually just parodying your 'shepherds eat sheep' comment, but as it progressed it became a paragon of targeted trolling! Oh, it was wonderful - gave me a real chance to explore my vindictive side...
I recall a joke I really loved: -
'Are you going to make fun of /everything/?'
'No honey, I'm not that quick.'

Oh. Not really much for bloodshed where we live, not when you are a kid or parent, so I feel it's a bit over done... funny how folks can get stuck on one word or phrase innit?
Anyway, she does cook good
