I'm gonna raise a mass theological debate here: God; fact, or fiction

Rational? Moi?
I prefer to identify with pi, which is quite throughly irrational. However, when I've got an 'e' to empower things imaginary, I'm just one step from being nothing...
(That means something, believe it or not...)

Pity really that you couldn't think of anything more intelligent as the basis of your wind up. At least, then, it might have seemed myterious instead of stupid. Ah well

Hi Toxxin .
"Math is limited only by consistency."
Does this mean that my inconsistency is unlimited? Or that it is my consistency that limits me?
Confused,

Yep, Math; it did cross my mind that you might think that the song was about you Ye olde mathematicke is what I meant, of course. Get out the abacus and slate. To answer your question: your consistency limits you in a wholly desirable sense, of course. Constantly contradicting ourselves wouldn't exactly be helpful to us or anyone else.

Have you heard of the Hindu concept of the Atman?
What many (I would like to add here, not all) of you are arguing against is the Transcendent God, a guy who sits on a cloud, above and beyond everything. Also, that he has control over everything, that he is causing the suffering. May I add a slant to that? Please? Tough, I'm going to anyway!
What if 'God' is simply the part in everyone that tells them right from wrong. Put simply, our conscience. It is not him causing or allowing suffering, it is humans. Why does a human torture another human being, then turn round and say 'Why is God allowing people to suffer?'. We say Gods allowing hunger and starvation, but what do people in affluent areas do about it? Nothing. 'Do not store your riches on earth' is one teaching from the bible. someone has tried to help us help ourselves, but we take no notice, as it is religious, and we don't believe in God.
Heres one for you. Star wars, when Darth Vader tempts Luke, asking him to come and join him in return for his life. Luke jumps off, and thats ok, a fictional character did what was right. Take the same kind of story from the Bible - Satan tempting Jesus in the desert, and noone takes any notice, cos its not real. Neithers star wars! (Though it would be cool if it was...) You don't have to be literalist about the bible. Take it symbollically as a group of stories, that are told like aesops fables, with a meaning behind it.
The Atman is that immanent God, the god in all things. He may not necessarily be the creator, in fact one of the Mystics once said that he is both the creator and the created, beyond creation. I find the concept of the transcendent very difficult to grasp, but that my conscience is linked I can cope with.
Then again, I also think it doesn't matter what you believe in, as long as you have something to believe. That can be in religion, but also in science, pseudoscience, or Arsenal! Most humans need to connect with something, whether it be a religious sect or a crowd of supporters of the same team. Do you need a god to do that? No. But for some people, it helps. I would like to add that I don't go to church, and hardly ever pray, and when I do, its more meditation on things to be grateful for.
I would like to apologise for any ranty qualities this message may have!
Now please feel free to pull my argument apart!

Pity you had to fall for it. At least, then, I would mind that it was stupid!
It seems we troll each other beautifully. Perhaps we ought to make it into a dance - the Troller's Tango, perhaps?...
In our contention,
We're blinded by invention,
Which trolls for your attention -
It's really quite obscene!
Our game is weird,
We twist each other's beards,
And see what has appeared -
It's the tango of the tro-olls...
Finishing, of course, with a beautiful broken C# minor with an added 9th...

Imagination is the key if you're a philosopher, and *i* is the key if you're a mathematician.
Ever heard 'Mathematical Pi'?
O-K, I'm starting to get a bit too musical... Perhaps I'm a musicosexual?

Aw! Alji, you must be getting quite worried, nobody has tried to diss your faith for nearly fifty posts or so!
I suppose I ought to think of something... Oh, I see! Where in the Bible does it say that a man can have sex with an unmarried woman without committing adultery?
Would you like a side-order of religious intolerance with that?
