The meaning of shallow in this context is that the conversation has no real depth or meaning. The people in the conversation do not want a deep and meaningful therapy session.

I think the best thing for a sunny/rainy day (any day, in fact) is instant ramen with chocolate milk. That, my friends, is true heaven. Really, really salty and unhealthy heaven. (I am in desperate need of a
