Hi there, I`m brass musician living in Cornwall,England. I can play Cornet, Euphonium and Baritone, but my specialist in Tenor and Alto Trombone. I think I`m pretty good as I have spent most of my musical life playing with championship brass bands and spent time playing with the National Youth Band of Great Britain and the Cornwall Youth Band, when I was younger.
As far as my favoutite composer/arranger goes, I like anybody who can make brass music fun and interesting. There are so many different forms it can take and I love all of them. I also listen to alot of rock music too, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, if anybody can arrange that into brass, give me a call.
What do I want from you guys? Well..... I`d like to hear from people who can help spread the word that brass and classical music is not really boring. any ideas ???

I play the Flute (Gr6), Piano and Keyboard. I also sing in a church choir, and with the Royal School of Church Music.
Hmm... Well, I like indie and alternative bands such as The Killers, The Concretes, The Magic Numbers etc... I also like choral music, particularly Bach, Mozart and Benjamin Britten.
I'd like to read other entries about music, and to read the opinions of other music fans of different genres.

Hi - we have this attitude problem in Melbourne too
The problem is that even though the MUSIC isn't boring, all the rest of the tradition thing is, and that's what keeps the classical thing uncool.
Opera's the worst for it, too
Like, we had this composer (who shall remain nameless) give a seminar about this very topic - he wore a black suit, white shirt, dark tie, and had a powerpoint screen which consisted of white Times New Roman text on a black screen.
The ever-dwindling classical community is holding on to itself so tightly the majority of people can't be bothered fighting to get in. Some people inside are asking 'what can we do?'. Unfortunately these same people are proudest of those same elements which need to change and end up doing nothing.
Anyone agree? Anyone disagree? Let's see some passion...

Instruments I play are violin, piano and keyboard. I try not to sing.
I listen to any music that takes my fancy at the time, classical to heavy metal.
Just thought it would be good to join like minded people and share some thoughts on music in general

Hello.
This seems to be the guild for me. I play the drums much to my housemates chagrin. I plonk away on the bass as well but to say I play it would be stretching a point.
I listen to anything that excites or challenges me [doesn't everyone?] including stuff like Husker Du, Eno, Kraftwerk, Mogwai, Sufjan Stevens, Can, The Stooges, Steve Reich, Scott Walker, Bowie, The National, Interpol, M.I.A, Public Enemy, The Fall, Wire and so on.
Cheers.

1. Recorder, guitar, keyboards, now learning violin, and I am an amateur luthier.
2. I love early music, from the middle ages to baroque.
3. To share information, sources of music and general banter with guild members would be ideal.
OK. About me: I grew up in a musical family determined not to be musical. So I learned recorder. Then in my teens I heard a recording that blew my musical socks off. It haunted me for another twenty years until I learned that it was by the late David Munrow and the London Consort, one of the pieces from Tylman Susato's Danserye.
Why am I musical after trying so hard not to be? I can't get away from the rhythms of the world, and every part of the world has its own unique patterns of sound. It took me a while to learn just how important music was to me, but now I know, so am making the most of it.
I have also inherited my late father's musical output, so if anyone is curious, please contact me.
