I am sorry to say that I forgot to mention that I also play Bb Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, ocarina, and am learning keyboards. I would like to learn Banjo and Accordian, too.
And Nobou U is my all-time favorite composer.
Thank you Madhank.
Long live the music freaks.

Hello Daitainius
Welcome to the Guild - you'll find the membership badge at A434648
I quite like the idea of a huge MuG band roaming Europe, but we'd never agree on what sort of music to play!
And is there much call for the banjo and accordian in punk and nu metal?

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Apr 18, 2005
I'd like to join...
I play guitar (mostly rhythm but attempting to improve my lead work) and sometime soon want to start learning the bagpipes.
My favourite bands/artists are Metallica, Napalm Death, Iron Maiden, The Clash, the Specials, Tori Amos and the Beatles.
I want nothing from the Musicians Guild except a warm welcome!

You have a point, but what would clarinet and piano be doing in those genres, eh? I'm a well-rounded musician, I play a bit of everything now and again. I might put down Motorhead to practice Handel. I mostly want to learn to play accordian and banjo to play folk Irish (and Flogging Molly), but I might do bluegrass or German folk on the side, who knows?

Greetings, Mr Dreadful, and welcome to the Musicians' Guild. Why don't you go collect your membership badge at A434648 while I add you to the list of people who have been assaulted by guitars? (hint: check out A1124632).
Enjoy!
@Danny & Daitainius: Well, what if we meshed metal, classical and folk together to form a new fusion genre? Think about it! We could play Beethoven's Ninth with blues chords, Guns & Roses with bagpipes, and Danny Boy with an overdriven electric guitar...
Cheers,
Farlander.

A happy musical May Day to all
Elf
I have a song to celebrate May Day in the Jukebox section of http://www.hybridstudios.co.uk
In the interests of co-operative music, I'd be delighted if anyone wants to add something (a bassline?woodwind? harmony?) or remix or rearrange the song.

I would like to join.
I play the cello mainly, but I also play the guitar, piano and voice, and I know how to kind of play percussion instruments
I would really like to talk to any professional music therapists or students in a college or university who are majoring in music therapy. If anyone has questions as to what Music therapy is, I am willing to answer. Also, there are several professional websites that describe it, one being the AMTA website (American Music therapist association).
Also, I used to be World Citizen, but now I'm worldcitizen3133.
Oh yea, I love practically every composer and type of music. (I know it sounds cheesy.) Oh well, it's true.

Don't know whether we have any music therapists in the Guild - I'm sure if there are they'll make themselves known!

Ok first of all im a singer, tenor to be exact but my range goes beyond and below that (choirs, musical theatre and most of all my acoustic band), I also play Guitar, piano & keyboards as well as and my beloved harmonicas, i also write a lot of music and am likely to pick up another instrument soon.
2. I like beethoven and bach, i enjoy alternative and acoustic music most notably the Counting crows, gemma hayes, colin hay, matt nathanson, matchbox 20... and 40s/50s/ 60s popular music from rock and roll to the end of the 70s (i could go on for hours but ill stop here)
3. To be able to talk to fellow musicians about a range of subjects, and give/receive advice regarding musical issues (the kind that pop up and you cant get rid of without help from someone that understands)I think ill stop there

Hello!
Can I join the musicians guild?
I play piano-self taught, some lessons-pretty good, better than my guitar playing-solely self taught, was hoping for some tips from fellow guitarists.
I also sing. recently got Keane's hopes + fears sheet music-great stuff to play! The album rocks.
Am into allsorts of music, here are a few: Eric Clapton (totally rules), Free, Queen, Crowded House, finn bros (etc) Keane (already said).
I could go on for ages listing them, but I'll be here forever!

Teenage classical musician here - voice, piano, and organ. However, I am also a huge fan of musical theatre and happy to discuss any and every composer from Sondheim to Berlin. I am also a great fan of opera; Carmen is a particular favorite. I hold Gilbert and Sullivan in the highest regard. Currently completing high school (sixth form American equivalent) and pondering a career in music. In a perfect world, I would be able to spend a career performing Gilbert and Sullivan and Sondheim. In reality, it's looking more like a combination of work in theaters and churches.

1. I play the guitar (electric, acoustic and classical) and I used to play the piano (not very good, though).
I play in a band called Screaming Cattle. We started out with 'kleinkunst' (Dutch for a sort of cabaret) then started with blues and now we just play what we like
2. Favourite band/composer/...: Mark Knopfler: great guitarist/producer/composer. Also Eric Clapton and Robert Johnson for the blues and Kirk Hammet for a bit of Metal. In general, my taste in music is mostly situated in the 60s, although I was at the time minus 18 years old
3. Like all guitar players: TABS, TABS, TABS!! And of course some healthy discussions about Life, The Universe and Everything. But that is just another expression for Sex, Drugs and Rock&Roll: in random order, as long as there is lots of it
Key: Complain about this post
