But of course, I've been here for something like a year...

(Since Tuesday, I've gone from one emotion to another: These are such confusing times. And then I could not get onto AOL for about 24 hours... more than that, I think... I choose to try to forget... argh... these are more than confusing times, they are terrible times)

I'm a bit of a terror when I'm hung over.

I cried into my drinks at the American Legion this weekend. It was good to be with patriots. And simpley...'United' means =you've got my back & I've got yours.

This Pub is a good example of a World united. Some of us have had spats with oneanother from time to time...we who've been here the longest. Me, since March 2000. But we always talk it out or laugh it out...this is a 'thread' that extends alllllll the way around our little World.

Willl someone pleaase play the jukebox? I can't find my reading glasses. Yo' , S.Dude, will you check the alley for me? Never mind...I don't think we were reading out there.

How was your weekend by the way (the usual drunken mayhem)?

"Gwennie, I work weekends unfortunately, I'm off to the coast again tomorrow though so I'm sure a bit of happy mayhem will ensue. I sure hope so anyway."

I work weekends, too... I do things that I think women would not have been let to do back in the olden days. It's not that hard or dangerous, but it's a lot of lifting and dragging and climbing on unstable boxes in a cold cold big walk-in freezer(ok, I am not supposed to do that part, but I do; please don't tell). When there's an especial lot of work to get done, like this weekend, I usually get pretty fed up and I adopt a poopy attitude, because it looks like I'm hardly getting anywhere(I put products out on the tables in the bakery while people are shopping). But yesterday and Saturday, I kept thinking about NYC's Bravest. And I worked harder.

There is a lot of good that has come of this. We're united. We seem to have pride in our flag(which was rare, believe me...). Gotta run. More to say later. TAKE CARE!!!!

I think the only thing to be proud of is oneself and what you achieve to form a better understanding between people.

No flag, no book and no nation is worth being proud of: Because they are all subdued to change, and there isn´t just one country, one nation, one truth and culture, but many many many many cultures, truthes and people. Every one a special person (even the bloody damn idiots who are mere evil, they are still singular and need special care, like detention [sounds ]) And I think that´s the secret: we´re all only human, and to forget that is something to be ashamed of.

I'm not forgetting that we are all only human; I'm remembering the humans who gave their lives to give me the rights that I have in this country. And my country isn't the only good one or right one or best one: But it is MINE, and I love it. I see what is special here, now beyond Colorado, and I am proud of that. I'm not suffering hubris, which is excessive pride, the type that "comes before a fall".

I guess the proper term for what I feel in my heart is honor-- I honor my country. Hopefully we'll honor Afghanistan as well. I feel so terrible for those people, caught between two powers.
