I second that-- I have a community within my family here in the states, and I know I have a wonderful worldwide family as well.

Speaking of threads, a class at my school has a wonderful project underway, called Threads of Hope: anyone can contribute a scrap of cloth-- 8"X11.5" to be part of a GIANT quilt, planned to be 110 stories tall... to be transported to NYC.
