Thank you, Evangeline!
Our little was chosen (on her FIRST day at new school!) to join the choir and SING SOLO at a concert recorded by local radio station in our new parish church.
Further concert (also being recorded) coming up on Tuesday with no less than THREE local choirs providing recording material consisting of Christmas carols & other seasonal music.

That must be so exciting for her! My littlest sister has just finished performing a solo in her choir's performance of Faure's Requiem. She absolutely loved it (although you do get a little sick hearing it a million times a day while they practise it). But a very proud moment for the whole family nevertheless, which I'm sure you feel as well.

Female solo in my favourite Mass (which I hope will be used when I shuffle off this mortal coil) must have been the "Pie Jesu", I presume??
Siobhàn's will be V.3 of "In the Deep Midwinter" (Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him ....") which is quite enough for a 9-yr-old, I think
(although she brought a packed theatre to its collective knees with her rendering of "Eternal Flame" a few months ago ..... ... there wasn't a dry eye in the house, all the 'mums' ran out of Kleenex

Ooohh, very smart. Methinks I spot a James Bond-alike brooding in the corner!
Why the brooding, or is that just your role, the brooding man in the corner looking mysterious?

*pours for Napnod*
I haven't had much of a chance to read about WWI. Spent several months researching WWII. Found where my father was, which units he was with and in which battles he was involved, frightening what can be found on the internet.
I'm okay, just procrastinating about Christmas shopping and holiday preparations.... It's almost midnight here so I have to try to get some sleep before Monday sneaks up on me. Nothing like being ambushed by a Monday.

I have been pretending up to now that christmas was months away... sadly, our neighbours are the type that put up vast quantities of lights and santas in slieghs on dec the first so I have now got as far as admitting that christmas is in less than four weeks time and writing a list. Some years i feel like Christmas some years I don't.I am at the stage now where I would like to share the fun of it with someone else....for the first few years as a single parent it was all quite a challenge. Now the novelty has worn off!!

Fortunately, my neighbors are fairly laid back about Christmas decorations(at least outside). Had some pretty awful holidays...not just Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Mardi Gras....thankfully not all the same year. Found the things that make the holidays(whichever one) feel right for me. I don't pay attention to any of the "shoulds" that other people try to foist off on me, anymore(like how many events I should attend or how). It was the year that for all of her preparation, hard work, planning, and anticipation, something upset a friend so much that she was in tears because "Christmas was ruined", it was just less than perfect. Enjoy the stuff that makes you happy! For instance, Christmas Eve it's a gumbo dinner at my cousins' house at Noon. Then home for me while Mike is off to play Santa at a family party. In fact I'll probably be here before 7 p.m. Christmas Day it's lunch at Mike's mother's house. Then home to recover from all the shopping, wrapping, eating, cleaning... Then a week of paid vacation(which will probably be spent on H2G2). Oh, and at some point I'll be entertaining my brother who lives in New York. He is spending the holidays here.
Anybody like the idea of a Christmas party around here?

Yes! I had my birthday party on-line two weeks ago and it was superb. We must have a christmas partySome of the people on h2 are real friends to me now.Which is absurd cos I have never met them.I think you might actually be more yourself on-line then in every day life...anyone care to work out how you'd research that?!!

G'morning, all!
'Tis the season to be ... hearing childrens' choirs singing Carols in the streets
Considering the fact that in THIS part of Liverpool children can safely do this, and comparing it with the 'armed siege' conditions on the estate we recently escaped from, it's amazing to think there is LESS than 5 miles distance between the two estates, but life couldn't be more different

Wouldn't it be wonderful if .....
People could spend 24 HOURS just being NICE to each other
It would give a whole new meaning to the phrase "No News is Good News" if this were the only item
on Trevor McDonalds 'crib sheet'
on Christmas Day.....

Was it during the Pub Crawl we somehow got to discussing the culinary delights of cooking
Found this news item on a [non-hootoo] earlier today ....

I wish more people could be nice to each other all year.
I think you are correct about the hedgehogs and the Pub crawl. Have you heard of a nutria rat?

*nods hello to Old Uncle Zarniwoop, while brewing large amounts of really strong *
*returns to last minute Holiday preparations (including shopping)after a few sips of potent *
There's plenty of left if anyone else wants some. It is rather strong. Why is it July was like three months long, then it's like November didn't happen at all?
On the bright side: My brother is visiting from New York. My vacation starts Tuesday morning and lasts until New Year's Day. Guess how much of that vacation will be spent here. Then when I return to work some new computers are supposed to be waiting for me.... The computers are on order at the moment. I am so afraid that the store's database will crash on New Year's Eve...Again.
Part of my job description will change because of the new computers. I will be updating the website for the store, checking email, creating email newsletters, possibly hosting live internet chats relating to health topics, and archiving a great deal of product information.
