Time for a bit of garden work?

Good to see you around the Campsite, again.

Well, I was out of town for quite a while, but I'm back now.

Is this a permanent return or more of a seasonal visit?

I don't foresee any significant abscences approaching, although a few days around Easter might be a problem.
How's it going?

It always gets a bit quiet around here near a holiday.

Things are going ok. Still working at the natural food store as the Office Manager and buyer.

Have you finished university?

Aye, last summer. Thus far, employment has been not too arduous, but all too infrequent...
Bed now, I think.

How did the garden grow this year?

It didn't.

Ordered 16 tomato plants and some seeds in Feb. Only to get the seeds and a 'on backorder' note.

In mid March the plants arrived, broken, wilty. The company sent replacements. By that time, it was too hot for tomatoes here. The plants grew but wouldn't produce. It was a record hot summer.

This week is the first of really cold weather we've had and that's a low of 40F.

I'm starting seeds at Christmas, for next year.

How was your summer?

We had about the same look as you, we had the tomato plants big and healthy and then in one night the slugs and snails ate the whole lot

No worries about the delay.

Still haven't started seeds because we had unseasonably cold weather and even snow. I know it's winter and it should be cold.

I know someone who planted tomatoes. They grew nicely right up until the squirrels had them for salad. I didn't know squirrels ate tomatoes.

Are you gardening again, this year?

I remember a couple of years back I saw a squirrel burying something in one of our plant pot in the garden, the next day the cat was using it as a toilet.

I bet the squirrel had a shock that winter

Not gardening this year, hopefully we will be moving to a bigger place towards the end of the year where we can have a proper veg patch, greenhouse and possibly a few chickens
