mm... how exciting to meet this guy and see all the good info, and to have one also!
how did it taste?
i have never really looked for edible mushrooms, once upon a time i went looking for psylocybins(i'm sure thats not how you spell it)smiley - winkeye but i never found any
i like them both ways, cooked and raw(depending on the shroom) but i cannot imagine them by themselves cooked? do hobbits eat shrooms cooked by themselves?

Ah...well I never got to taste the whole smiley - gift shroom! smiley - cry We were staying in Genoa's amazingly wonderful youth hostel and leaving very early the following morning....the shroom collector had told me that the perfect way to cook this mushroom was with another local delicacy, 'trofie' (pasta made from chestnut flour, no less!) and even told me the best place in town to get it...
I completely forgot that the hostel cafeteria had no oven, or grill (was one of those with food and drink dispensers) and when we got the raw trofie and shroom back there was nowhere to cook it! So I gave it to the friendly receptionist who was on his way home for dinner - he was delighted.
So...next time in Genoa...the mushroom/trofie party!
(I did try a little corner of the shroom, feeling a bit like Alice-in-Wonderland - it was rather earthy and...um...foresty...very suitable for an smiley - elf)

Well hobbits were always more interested in good food than letters (Elves, on the other hand, are enthusiastic about both! )
