The aide is bilingual, has a Hispanic surname, and a totally American accent. I guess it's down to who she hung out with while growing up.

The new January Create is about first times. Three contributions so far, one of them mine. All totally different... A87819411

feel a lot of these language colloquialisms are caused by English not being first language and speaker, translates from spoken language first..

I've seen snowdrops around the estate where I live too.

Not seen any sign of snow since last January, though. Hail yeah, snow no.

It's snowing behind the Zion Curtain, but not enough. While I can't stand the stuff, if I want water next year we need more of it.
Going to Boston next week for work. Trouble is I doubt I'll see much of anything while I am there.

Well I love that dirty water, Boston, you're my home... I was born there.

OK, timbre. How do you pronounce it? I say 'tam-bruh' like my musician mother taught me, but a talented musician I talked with recently met it with incomprehension. "Oh," he then said, "You mean 'tim-bruh'!"

I use the French pronounciation but hootoo won't show the phonetics when I try to copy&paste, just a bunch of gibberish.

Several Swedish words that come from French are actually pronounced pretty close to the French way. It might have something to do with a Frenchman becoming the king of Sweden in 1818.

I’ve always pronounced it 'timber' as in 'The tree I am cutting down is about to come crashing to the ground.'
