First we'll take Manhattan
at Ti's newfound clock-keeping expression.
We're having good friends over for dinner - and as we all like a good meal and a good glass, I'll be dabbling a bit in the kitchen. Just did the dessert - my signature chocolate mousse ( that my previous boss likes so much that he' has promoted it internally in the company around the world and even made a bowl full and brought alongside with his speech at my recent 10 years anniversary at the company )
For starters we'll have a soup, Creme Ninon - a very delicious and ever so slightly show-off-ish pea soup apparently named after a 1600s French writer and courtisane. And then pork cheeks (final recipe still not chosen) along with mashed potato/celeriac (?) and grated red beets/apple/horseradish.
Think it must be an age thing - a little like Ti was musing about but with less worry - i really do like cooking more and more

Santra, if you like a good mash, you could try this:
Chop up leek, soften it in (a lot of) butter in a pot
Fill up about 1/3 of the pot with broccoli, or cauliflower, or a mix of both
Season some cream with salt, pepper and any spice of your liking (I like freshly gound nutmeg myself)
Add more cream to cover around 1/2 of the veggies
Boil until tender or soft, depending on the texture you want
Mix in blender or - the way I like to do it, because I prefer a bit more body - with a good old potato masher directly in the pot

Actually, 'simmer on low heat' is more appropriate than 'boil'

And a quick way of souring red onion (thinly sliced) or any onion of your choice is to put the slices in a cup and pour white wine vinegar or lime juice over it and leave it overnight in the fridge - a quick and easy way to get something fancy to garnish your dish with.

Watershed o'clock? I think my parents called that Happy Hour.

*the service lift doors open and bots enter, pulling the cart that will take away the goo spruce. They remove and pack the decorations, unstring the lights, then heave the tree into the cart*
*branches can be seen waving farewell as the lift doors close*

Today's been a good day. Tom found the missing keys! Y'see, due to various circumstances (that would've made a NaJoPoMo had everything been resolved in November) we were down to one vehicle about midSeptember. Not that big of a deal, mostly--oh, sure, juggling timings could suck, but it was do-able. Except if all of us wanted/needed to go someplace together--our one vehicle seated 3 (a Ford Ranger, if you're curious) and we're a family of 4... Anyway, what with finding a car, getting it smogged, etc., we finally got a vehicle we can all fit in midDecember. Tom was cleaning it out on New Year's Day, in the evening, and the keys disappeared. We only had 1 ignition key (there's an extra door key, which we'd put on another ring, in case we locked the keys in the car). But, after days of searching and re-searching and step-retracing, Tom found the keys this morning after he got home from work (we still have the truck)--in a place that each of us had searched at least 3 times each
We got our first eggs from our own chickens, too

*waves at the receding tree*
Sounds like finding those keys were a bit like putting a USB plug in - it always needs to be turned around a least twice to fit... But good that you found them

When looking for anything you must remember that you will always find it in the last place you look. The trick is to look in the last place first. This advice is free but donations are welcome.

You've obviously got borrowing bogles - they're quite harmless but can leave you feeling very frustrated:

Our bogles must be slightly deaf, then--we asked the surroundings *many* times where the keys were those 2-3 days.

One of our oldest entries, too, I notice.
Thanks for the recommendation about Revo, Santra. That really pulls 'em up by the roots, doesn't it!

The Borrowing Bogles appear to have take the biro from our lounge. Though perhaps it isn't the Bogles as I never seem to get my biros back.
Just watched the first episide of season 2 of the Bridge. That's the Swedish/Danish co-production. I've missed Saga Norén.

Veet Voojagig solved this problem many years ago.
Somewhere in the cosmos, he said, there was a planet entirely given over to biro life forms. And it was to this planet that unattended biros would make their way, slipping away quietly through wormholes in space.
When one day an expedition was sent to the spatial coordinates that Voojagig had claimed for this planet they discovered only a small asteroid inhabited by a solitary old man who claimed repeatedly that nothing was true, though he was later discovered to be lying.
(According to DNA)

I don't know if I would be able to say that I missed Saga Noren - all her qualities included. But boy, is Sofia Helin magnificent in the role and picturing the intellectual brilliance and social hardships of Aspergers amazingly.
Just learned yesterday that there is a French/British remake of aeason I - obviously names The Tunnel...

I went swimming this lunch time, expecting the pool to be at its busiest as it is January, and I had a lane to myself! Where is everybody? Has everyone given up their New Year's Resolutions already?
